Just got back from the Midnight screening. I didn’t have too high of expectations going in, but the movie actually really surprised me. I didn’t miss Kate Beckinsale as much as I thought I would. Rhone Mitra does a damn good job as the main female. Overall, the movie was decently gory and really entertaining. The movie looks great on the big screen too!
i got to see a midnight showing of this and really only had the expectation of a long epic battle movie, but it ended up being much more than that. The movie had an in depth plot and I believe the monsters of the underworld were well represented. The lycans totally owned the vampires and I think the lycans were much better represented. This was well made and even though there were some bad CG effects, the film was effective and just fun to watch

Kaname Tousen, do you know what the word ‘prequel’ means? FYI, it means to show is how things came to be. Sure we knew the outcome, but the point was to show us how it all happened. If you dont like prequels, why even bother seeing it?
I agree, I loved the first two and was expecting a less than par movie, but was extremely surprised at how fun it was and a great beginning to the saga. If you liked the first two, you will not be disappointed one bit.

Ever since I saw the first movie, I thought Sheen and Nighy should have gotten top billing over Beckinsale and Speedman. This movie rectifies that.
Nighy and Sheen are terrific in their roles. In the hands of lesser actors, this movie would be unwatchable. Go see the movie for these two.
Rhona Mitra does a better Kate Beckinsale than Kate Beckinsale.
Great movie. Michael Sheen is awesome as Lucian. Bill Nighty and Rhona Mitra are superb. I don’t understand why Mr. Disgusting gave this such a low rating. This is just as good as the first two movies. If you are a fan of the franchise, you will not be disappointed.

Badass prequel to the kick ass Underworld series!
This prequel might be the best prequel ever made. It was done brilliantly and answers every question you had wondered and followed the stories told in Underworld and Underworld Evolution perfectly. It ties together every piece of information that it headed out to do in the first place. Amazing filmwork done. Great action and gore and an all around excellent movie. This trilogy is by far the best trilogy ever made. I can’t get enough of these movies and i hope they continue what they have done i more movies or the TV show that is starting to surface.
So Ive seen all the underworld movies and I love them all. So if any of you dont like them, why are you guys even commenting about them?

Great Prequel! You obviously knew what was coming if you has already seen the 1&2. The only down side for this movie, was the Crappie Vampires!! What are they Knights now, that dont suck blood, I cant even recall them sucking any blood, but I could be wrong. They were more concerned on how to keep the Lycans from Escaping or turning on them!!!!!
over all I would soo buy this when it comes out!!!
just for the fact of the bad ass story of werewolves, and as far as the Vampire fans, stick with…….. never mind Vampires are going down hill, Thanks to Twilight!!!

the mix again. With the exception of pt.2 I really enjoyed the series and hope they can make another one or go on with a tv series. So if you’re a fan also it’s definitely worth watching b/c it will leave you wanting more.
Pretty good movie. Very decent prequel. This movie really only loses points for the CGI gore. FUCK OFF YOU LAZY COCKS!!! Practical effects are way much better, and for the most part should not have been replaced with shitty effects. It was very distracting at times. Having said that, the practical effects they DID use were excellent.
I loved the movie. My sons and I went to see it twice the first weekend. My favorite of the series…so far.
BTW, MrDisgusting, did you pay attention while watching the movie ? The “human form” Lycans were slaves. They were kept in a dungeon. I don’t think they had weekly appointments to a Paul Mitchell salon let alone be able to bathe regularly. So, I think the fact that they were “unkempt” in in order.
I do agree that that the CGI effects were all over the board. Some were very good, some were very bad. I think the consensus would agree, that while the movie wasn’t consistent with it’s effects, the majority of viewers were entertained, and that’s the most important part of watching a movie.
I’m a 44 yr old man and I admit I thought Lucian’s first xformation was not the best I’ve seen, I was all giggly, elbowing my kids, and saying ” Hell Yeah”.

I don’t get most of the reviews for this movie. I believe this is a movie about werewolves fighting vampires…obviously not a movie to be taken seriously. Taken as such it is a success; I saw plenty of vampires fighting werewolves. I was entertained. There was enough gore to satisfy me. I liked it better than the other two, because the monsters actually fought one another, instead of just shooting. To be honest I never really liked the first one to begin with. Also, Bill Nighy is a badass.

I thought the actor who played lucian did an AMAZING job. and it explains so much about the origins of vampires and lycans and it explains all kinds of things from the first movie i was really excited when i saw that big black dude in this movie i was just like sweet! hes back! ive seen him before!…sorry got off topic…. but i thought it was a great film and i reccomend to anyone who was a fan of the first two.
Underworld: Rise of the Lycans is the third entry in the Underworld series and being a fan of the first two, I highly doubted this would let me down and it didn’t.
I really appreciated the original main players from the previous films returning for this prequel, instead of having the main characters re-cast. Lucian (Michael Sheen)was great in this film and had me rooting for him and his Lycan brothers the whole film. Viktor is his usual bad ass self and Bill Nighy turned in another solid performance. Rhona Mitra is cast as Viktor’s daughter Sonja. Mitra was the best pick for this role because of her uncanny resemblane to Kate Beckinsale’s Selene character from the first two films. Mitra also give a great performance and is as sexy as she is a full blown strong female kick ass death Dealer.
I liked how the visual style of the film stayed close to the previous films. I was hoping for a little more bloodshed, but it was satisfying. Overall I enjoyed this film a lot and think its the best of the series. I felt the film went by a little fast, could have been a little longer. Great movie for people who enjoyed the first two.
Though I knew the whole plot of the movie, I was not disappointed in the least bit. I greatly enjoyed the gore of the film, a lot gorier than the previous installments of the film. The action is great, the acting is good, and overall makes a good film. Thumbs up!
Just saw this, and i cant decide if i liked it or not. Not a bad movie, acting was actually really good. Way better than the last. Some of the CGI is god-awful though.
So I must admit, I put off seeing this for about 2 weeks, and finally got around to it tonight. I honestly went in with low expectations, but I don’t think I could have been more plesantly suprised! This movie rocked.
The Underworld franchise is underrated in my opinion, it makes for a great beginning (or end) to a fantasic sci-fi story. Rise of the Lycans has got everything in it, but it has “Guy movie” written all over it. There is battles, action, great acting on all fronts, hot chicks, swords, vampires, werewolves, and they fight!
On the downside, I thought the special effects could have been better. Really? CGI blood? I didn’t think it was necessary or well done. The rest of the movie however, is great for fans and non-fans alike. Just go into it with a bucket of popcorn, and enjoy it for what it is.

I’m a fan of the 1st 2 Underworld movies, but this one was kind of out there. Instead of making it a third, they should have just called it “Lucian, the Lycan Savior”
And the ending just irritated me, it just jumped from one scene to a completely different one for the 1st movie…it made no sense to bring Selene in at the last moment. They could have just left it at it being the end with the talking…

Rhona mitra is hot. And i know they spend millions on these movies but to me every underworld they make just keeps ruining the genius of the first one. And I know alot of you love the films but why???? I think this film is boring. Its just lackluster and half hearted. Skip it.
I give it a C+ it was entertaining enough to watch it all the way through. But it did lack in so many areas and you know the whole story already. I just hope they dont make Underworld: The Clans are Born.
i love me a good prequel, but once again not a horror film…
i dont think this movie intended to be anything other than a really great popcorn movie, and this movie succeeds excellently at achieving this it doesnt matter if the love story is bit generic (which it is), it doesnt matter one bit, michael sheen and rhona mitras performances keep you intrested and engaged and really caring for these charachters, any underworld fan already knows whats going to happen anyway so complicating the story and changing it up and not including the original back story of lucien would simply of pissed off and alienated its fan base. the movie was fantastic i loved it, it keep me really entertained, although i do concede it is a movie where you have to leave your brain at the opening credits as there are one or two plotholes, but if your after a movie with loads of action violence and suspense and bill nighy in a movie better than “the boat that rocked” then you’ve found your film go and enjoy
The first two were good popcorn movies. This one was just awful. I rented it. And after being interupted and putting it on pause I never even bothered going back.

I didn’t like the first movie so skipped the second. I just watched this one and was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Cgi is bad at times but but acting and characters were great.Some wicked fight scenes and good love story. I’m a sucker for werewolves. Think I’ll check out the second movie.
Underworld III is a well done continuation of the former two Underworld movies but – as it was to expect – not as good as the first or second one. However, the story about Lucian and Sonya – the conglomerate of vampire and lycan and the everlasting battle between the coven and the individuals of the vampire/lycan society reveals deeper insights into the story before the first Underworld movie.
Especially Victor and his aristocratic appearance are one of the points standing out of the movie. Also the love story fits into the story is well suited and shows the background of the battle of Lucian against Victor.

At first I didn’t understand why this movie was made, as we already knew the jest of the back story from the first film. But after watching it, and enjoying the depth and way the story was told, I couldn’t help but love it just as much as the others! People missed Kate in this one, but her character wasn’t part of this story, so it only makes sense she’s not featured. Besides, it’s not like the main actress in this one isn’t just as sexy! A well done prequel and easier to follow without all the politics and substories of the first two.
This is very similar to the other ‘Underworld’ movies (in style). I enjoyed it, it wasn’t as good as the others because it didn’t have Kate Beckinsale and Rhona Mitra is not as good IMO. Though Bill Nighy and Micheal Sheen do great jobs. It was alright, but since I already knew the story, I knew what was going to happen. At least it kept the previous films’ dark and gothic atmosphere.

I missed Kate Beckinsale, The actress in this Underworld movie was okay but not the best ever. I guess some parts in the movie were good and some parts were just boring.
I enjoyed this prequel. My major problem with any prequel is I already know where it’s heading, but even so, this was a real fun ride on the way there.
not as hyped up as the previous 2 but i guess thats why i liked it. you got to see lucians character and realise that he wasnt always the bad guy. a bit predictable but still great to watch.
