From alot of people I heard this movie was horrible. But I really enjoyed it. I liked this as much as some hard core bloody horror movies such as hostel/ I thought the story to this movie was good and, that Wes Bentley was a good villain and, that Rachel Nichols was the best person to choose as Angela. This movie made me jump a couple of times and excited me! I think people shoild give more time to movies like this instead of wating time going to see a torture porn like saw. I do like the saw series but I think there are just too many torture movies out now. After Saw 3 torture movies got old. I would rather go enjoy a horror where a killer stalks a girl and the girl tries to get away. The classic horror movie storyline. P2 was 1 of the best horror movies of 07!
I enjoyed the movie.
Rachel Nichols is fantastic, Wes Bentley don
I liked this movie it was different and there wasnt like 6teens getting gutted like most horror films I would recommend it to anyone!
Everyone has there opinion but I thought this movie was much better then what Mr. Disgusting’s review made me believe. I wasn’t expecting much after I seen that he gave it a 2 (I didn’t read the spoiler review). Fine there isn’t much to the movie a lady gets out of work and her car doesn’t start up and the security guard tries to help here but to suddenly turn on her. The thing I felt was creepiest about this movie is that it could actually happen, sure a security guard if he wants can turn on you and make you his b@itch. The best thing about the movie is that I wanted her to get away from him. The security guard comes off as a huge @ss hole and he plays it well. Everyone has there opinion on this movie, I just dont think this was Mr. Disgustings type of movie.
it just didn’t do it for me it wasn’t what i thought it was going to be and a little disappointed i had a hard time following it and it was just boring
pretty good. wasn’t really bored at all. Was very impressed.
Movie wasnt that bad. Im not gonna lie I thought Wes Bentlay was creepy and crazy as fuck lol. But I thought it was a pretty decent horror flick. I love when horror movies take place on Christmas.
This movie is not as bad as some people believe. Sure it’s no masterpiece, but it’s a decent, at least “fun” horror movie.
I thought it was actually pretty good. It’s not the best, but it’s really fun. Plus, it was pretty suspenseful, had me on the edge of my seat.
As it begun ,
the empty car park ,
darkness,
and a chilling christmas song in the background ,
i thought.. THIS MOVIE IS GOING TO BEE GOOOOOOD!
And yes it was , Not brilliant, Not that scary , or gory , But it was a good movie ..
Watch it.
It was an ok film.
This movie deserves some credit but has its flaws.
This movie was sooooo good so im giving it a 10
this is one of my favorite movies
one of the best horror movies that revolve around Christmas..EVER! I didn’t know the actors in this movie and now after seeing the movie and their acting it defenitly makes me want to check out their other work. This movie makes you feel creeped out about Christmas in a parking garage..LOL!
Watchable and enjoyable little thriller that gets a little too far fetched in places, but delivers the goods. P2 has enough suspense, action, and scares for horror fans looking for a good time. It’s not another overly gory torture movie or a dull “psychological” thriller.
I won’t spoil anything else, just rent it and you might find yourself surprised.
The single main flaw–and really the only main flaw, because nothing really happened in the movie–is that P2 is pointless. It’s the exact same typical run-of-the-mill thriller that you’ve seen 100+ times in TV movies from the 70′s and 100+ times in James Patterson novels. The entire movie had no point. Why would you enjoy watching something that you’ve seen so ridiculously much? I love thrillers, but not when they just rehash what the last thriller did a few months before it and that thriller rehashed what the thriller before it did . . . and so on until you have more carbon copies of the same exact thing that all claim to be “better than the last movie with this exact same plotline”. Thus P2 is pointless. It’s just a copy of a copy. It follows the same plot structure you heard in sixth grade: person lives normal life, person is captured, person tries to get out, there is a climax, and person lives/dies. You know the formula better than your ABCs. I could have literally fallen asleep after the first 10 minutes of this movie, then woken up before the last 10 minutes and known every single thing that happened between the two points. It gives predicable a new name, because as I said, it’s a copy of a copy of a copy in a never ending cycle of copies. There is so much copying in the thriller genre today that it makes the amount of copies in the slasher genre look downright conservative.
And don’t try to argue that you like “this type” of thriller and you enjoy all the senseless copies because you like the “type” or “sub-genre”. Great, because you and I are in the same boat. I like the sub-genre. I love thrillers. But I don’t love bad guys who are so cliché and paper-thin they make me laugh. I don’t love the same exact plot every time I watch a thriller. I want something different to happen within the same genre. If you are one of those people who claim nothing can be done original anymore, go watch the first Saw or the French film Inside. Go Red Ted Dekker or Dean Koontz. I can name a lot of people who can actually achieve well-done originality within the thriller genre–that argument falls flat. P2 does nothing different. It didn’t try to. I for one am tired of directors who have no brain of their own and think, “Let’s just copy that movie and get money . . . people will watch it and give it great reviews because they’re as predictable and boring as I am.” That is the definition of P2.
On a technical level, the acting is flat to poor. The directing is uninspired. The storyline is worthless. The style is bland.
On an entertainment level, the movie is slow moving and boring. It plays along the same lines as every other copied thriller by trying to take half the movie characterizing paper-thin clichés who don’t even vaguely pass off as real characters with character. From start to finish, everything you expect to happen happens. There is no suspense or emotion. The entire movie is flat-line, pretentious, and unentertaining. There would have literally been more productive use of screen time if they focused the camera on a walrus get liposuction.
There are so many other things I could criticize P2 on, but instead I’m going to end this differently. I’m going to speak to those of you who like P2 and all the copies that it copied: it is because of you anyone who wants original thrillers don’t get them, and because of you that we have to watch bore-fests like P2 instead of a truly mind-blowing, amazing thriller. Unless you raise your standards, P2 is the best you’re going to get. And that is just pathetic.
Surprised I liked this film, it’s very well done, very good suspense, you definatly get the feeling alex aja was involved in some way with it, which probably made it a better picture overall, some people will find it lacks in alot of things, but the villian was interesting, almost norman bates like, he was a believable character who was just slightly out of wack from reality, sometimes it’s scarier to know that the everyday person you run into is capable of such horrific things.
crap the only goood thing is the gore
I found myself fast forwarding through this one. It just seemed a little predictable to me. It looked better in the previews.
This movie wasn’t that bad considering the other crap that’s out there. Sure it might feel like you’ve seen this a thousand times but some of us don’t feel that way. It still is a horror film worth watching.
this is a good movie and the acting was good. I liked it.
i actuall enjoyed this movie. wes bentley kept it going. its hard to make a movie too interesting when the whole thing takes place in a parking deck. not too bad.
very good movie.
I saw P2 on the 3.99 shelf at my video store, read the back, and decided to give it a go. I wasn’t expecting much from it, and I got what I thought I would. It is the same type of bland, carbon copy “thriller” that every film company is spewing out. It did have its moments here and there, and featured some decent acting. Worth my 3.99, 3/10.
P2 delivered exactly what I expected. No more. No less. Guy stalks Girl. Guy captures Girl. Girl spends over an hour running/hiding from Guy. Girl grows a steel pair and does Guy in. I wasn’t blown away by the acting. Though Nichols and Bentley did a fair job. I wasn’t awestruck by the set. It’s a parking garage. I wasn’t leaping from my skin. I knew what was going to happen 10 minutes before it did. The film gave me what I wanted. A cheap thrill.
I’m giving it a 10 because I wasn’t disappointed as I didn’t expect much to begin with. I was relatively pleased with the result.
god what a mess, and a waste of time.
I am a fan of horror movies based on captivity, I liked the scenes with the gore, I thought they were done well.
This film really could have been good, but it was a heap of ideas just thrown into a movie bowl. I thought the killer’s motive was pretty original, and the editing was pretty cool. Parking garages are really scary places, but this film just made them kind of silly. I really liked the idea of being stalked and losing your mind in such a place, but this movie just wasn’t executed right. Something made me keep on watching, though..I don’t know what it was, cheap thrills or something but I suppose, if you have nothing better to do on a Saturday nite, this movie is just the ticket.
for starters, i would probably consider P2 a suspense/thriller instead of a horror film. so i’ll write this review considering it as such. compared to Aja’s other work this movie is a little disappointing. i thought the movie was ok in general though. the actors seemed to work well together and i thought the cinematography was excellent. but on the downside i thought the storyline was pretty silly with quite a few plotholes. i also thought they used an appropriate amount of gore for this type of film. so all in all, as a horror film i think it was pretty bad, but a suspense film, i thought it was an ok way to spend an hour and a half.
If the producers of this film had said P2 was a comedy, it would have struck box office gold, but no, it was released as a suspense/horror/thriller. It’s hard for a movie to be scary when the bad guy acts like a 9-year old. Basically this deranged security guard named Thomas who kidnaps this woman named Angela, tries to make her love him by killing people who have wronged her, and sings Elvis Presley’s “Blue Christmas”. The latter is the scariest part in the movie. It’s a predictable movie too, you’ll spend more time calling out what’s about to happen rather than pay attention to the characters. If you think of it as a comedy, P2 isn’t so terrible, but otherwise, don’t see it.
a good thriller of a movie, but the lack of deaths bothered me for some reason…you would think there would be more people in a big ass building like that…oh well
Crap, not original and how the hell did that water stay in the elevator??!! DUMB crap….and don’t even get me started on the car scene at the end..i was so waiting for a tumbleweed to blow across……..
Angela’s dress is the true star of this film.
This film has a place in my heart b/c of the people behind it. It’s a simple little thriller that really needed more…MORE death scenes!
A great thriller. Obviously some “are you kidding me parts” but very entertaining. And surprisingly some good acting. Definitely one to check out.
Kinda boring really. I was going to turn it off, but I did want to see how the guy was going to be killed and if they would leave it open-ended- thankfully they didn’t! Rachel Nichols was pretty good, but she reminded me too much of Sissy in Carie- and who can top Carie?? The guy was never really scary and the body count sucked. No surprises, lots of parking lot, and not enough kills to make this a “horror” movie. Save your money and rent Splinter instead.
i loved it, i’m a huge Aja/Levasseur fan and there stamp can be seen all over this film, in an age where gore can be relied upon too much within a film, its incredibly rare to find the suspense horror film, but this delivers it in spades with still some gore thrown in to the mix. Unbelievable film.
im gunna make this short
but i REALLY like this movie. It’s weird at first when i watched it in the theatre a while ago i hated it. Wes Bentley was so funny with his freakouts. But, once i watched it again, its now one of my favourite movies to watch, cool blood, i find it suspenseful, and just a well made movie, kinda slow at frist, but the rest adds to the slow pace at the beginning. I said i was gunna make this short, bull shit lol
Entertaining film. if you havent watch this film go watch it. the elvis blue christmas scene is classic.
P2 could’ve been the perfect movie for unbearable suspense and genuine scares but turned out the complete opposite. What it suffers from is terrible acting, lackluster screenplay, and the direction was extremely poor. It felt like a PG-13 crap fest. At times I felt like I was watching Prom Night. Yes, it was that bad. Now I must admit, the part where he crushes the guy on the wall was pretty awesome. Only part though. The villain was so stupid. You can’t take him seriously. Alexander Aja, who was the director of High Tension and The Hills Have Eyes (two very good movies) and producer of this movie should be ashamed of himself. I guarantee if he was the director of this movie, the cast would be different and there would be way more suspense added to it. All in All, P2 was a terrible movie and I do not recommend it to anyone.
A solid claustrophobic cat-and-mouse horror, nothing special but it has its moments. Some neat gore, an ok soundtrack and the acting is proper although the security guard is often a bit annoying. Pretty tense and scary in the first third, a bit too lengthy and boring in the middle, suspenseful and action-packed in the last third.
Such a mess of a film it isn’t funny.
You people are on crack.
This is one the best SUSPENSE movies I have ever seen.
It had excellent scare scenes, amazing acting, and a great script.
Stop being so picky and accept the idea that not every film will live up to your expectations.
I’m sorry, I hate to direct my reviews toward individuals, but I HAVE to defend this great film!
this is a good horror movie, with great gore scenes and good scares.I liked it.
A very enjoyable thriller for me! I spent the night before my wedding with an abcest tooth and screaming headache with my best buds in the theaters watching this. And I have to say the thrills took away my terrible pain(for the most part) and nerves for the next day. After, I got completely shit faced b/c I realized how bad I was hurting.lol, but it was a really good thriller.Something that should have been done a long time ago but wasnt.
Well, I just finished watching this film and I thought it was pretty good, especially considering it is following a premise that has been done a million times over. I don’t think they do a good job at making you really care for Rachel Nichol’s character until later in the film, and even them it’s only because the man is deranged and you genuinely just want her to escape. There were times when I was on edge, particularly during the last half of the film. In my opinion, it is definitely worth watching.
From the looks of this movie it seems that it would just follow the typical storyline of a movie about a woman and a man obsessed with her. As the movie goes on you tend to wonder how this could ever be possible, but the date makes the movie. With gruesome killings, suspense that kills, and of course screams, this movie is an excellent horror flick.
just another lame remake of a great creepy horror thriller ;(
Ehh the movie was alright. the casting was kinda out of whack though. Different actors should have taken on these roles for sure and the film would’ve turned out miles better..
A surprisingly good horror/thriller. Very tense in places, got the ol adrenaline pumping. I knew nothing about this movie which is why I think I enjoyed it soo much. Think it was Alex Aja’s involvement which made me watch p2. Hugely enjoyable..
A claustrophobic thriller that does not hold back on the gore and should appeal to any fan of Alexandre Aja since his name is tied to the flick!
Im in a carpark oh NO.
Amazing film! Rachel Nichols & Wes Bentley were amazing!
This film is really pathetic, the story is so repeatedly and unoriginal, really tired always the same story, is full of silly moments, predictable and obvious. In short, it is a real crap.
It wasn’t that bad, with a big budget like this, it could have used more blood, but still sticks to a survival theme
I liked it for what it was. Not very original but it did have some fun moments and one really awesome death sequence.
Watch it if you get the chance but don’t go out of your way for it.
A good popcorn horror flick.Nothing original but does keep your intrest. The two leads do a good job.Has some intensity ,probably thanks to Aja’s involvement in the writing. The ending could’ve been better but still ends OK.Watch for free and judge for yourself.
love horror films that take place on holidays, especially Christmas. I think this film has a really good storyline. A woman named Angela is working late on Christmas Eve and decides to go home to the family party, but her car won’t start and Thomas the security guard kidnaps her in order to spend time with her. He acts innocent at first, but he soon becomes more violent like killing the man who tried to sexually harass her at the office Christmas party. She soon escapes from him and have a deadly cat-and-mouse game and becomes trapped in the parking levels and the elevator. Angela must fight back if she wants to see Christmas day. I highly recommend P2!!!
Finally just watched this for the first time. It wasn’t bad at all! Not all out scary but effectively creepy for me. Not the best thing I’ve ever seen but I still enjoyed it.
An empty tall building and its underground car park is a great film location for this story. I remember watching a good short film many years ago set in a car park, I just love it when films use creepy underground car parks to good use, like itâe(TM)s a character within the story itself.
P2 is the floor level where our leading professional woman has her car parked. She is in a rush to finish work so she can get to her family in time for Christmas. We all have those anxiety dreams where we canâe(TM)t get to our destination and everything that can go wrong, does go wrong. âe~P2âe(TM) gives us this nightmare narrative like a rollercoaster. And it is a bloody good ride.
Directed by Franck Khalfoun and starring the excellent Rachel Nichols and Wes Bentley – who you might remember in American Beauty (1999). Rachelâe(TM)s performance is bang on in this film, she really is terrific. Usually itâe(TM)s the bad guy that stands out, but not in this case. We remember Rutgar Hauer for his character John Ryder in âe~The Hitcherâe(TM) (1986) and Daniel Day Lewis as Bill âe~The butcherâe(TM) in âe~Gangs of New Yorkâe(TM) (2002). These two actors manage to strike a note with the audience that will be memorable for years to come, they have the ability to give themselves an edge on screen because of character choices and preparation. I just wish this film had that special actor to play opposite Rachel Nichols and be at her talent level.
Wes Bentley had a brilliant opportunity in this production to create a truly memorable character and he is only just OK. This is a real shame, better casting would have sent this film onto another realm, without a doubt. Wes reminds me too much of other actors and his performance did not bring anything new from what weâe(TM)ve seen before, he needed his own stamp to it. I didnâe(TM)t quite believe his performance, but it was not so bad to ruin the experience. The beginning of the film is really good, I liked the build up and the introduction of all the characters. Good tension all the way through which is down to good direction. However, one scene near the beginning when Rachelâe(TM)s character Angela is making a mobile phone call in the lobby, the camera cuts a few times to give us different views of her whilst she is not moving. Director Franck Khalfoun should have taken a leaf from Kubrick and had a single camera in the same position and just let the script and story evolve, no need for several different camera angles as it can be distracting.
I was trying to figure out why night staff are sometimes portrayed as weirdoâe(TM)s (Human Centipede 2, (Full sequence ) 2011) or insane (Aftermath, 1994)…maybe night staff sleep all day and work all night and donâe(TM)t have access or the time to watch movies. If they did I think they would be a little upset. Captivity and isolation is a common horror film subject and this film is a very strong effort thatâe(TM)s just set in an office building and its large car park. The other nice touch in this film is the use of music, the score is really good and flows well when the tension kicks in. I also like the use of some Elvis here and there.
The film would be improved if more scenes were added at the beginning of the film demonstrating the people working and going about their business within the office block, basically seeing the characters doing everyday things so when the story starts, the scene is set and character foundations have been laid. This would have definitely enhanced the uncomfortable scenes to be even more dramatic when they occur.
P2 is an enjoyable claustrophobic story, predicable with some outstanding moments of cinematic genius and the added âe~jump out of your seatâe(TM), âe~that scared the shit out of meâe(TM) thrown into the mix. It is tremendous fun, the time went fast because you find yourself so involved. The violent moments are bloody violent and they stand out well because thereâe(TM)s not too many of them.
I found this movie really amusing and enjoyable.
FORGET ALL THE BAD REVIEWS! THIS MOVIE IS AWESOME! It is truly one of the most original horror movies of the last 10 years. The movie has a good story, a good script, great actors, and great directors. It was wonderfully done! And its a great horror movie to watch around Xmas time. The two leads Wes Bentley and Rachel Nichols did a fantastic job and had extreme dedication to the project. Especially Nichols who spent the whole movie running around a cold parking garage at night in a dress and handcuffs. Two of the best parts of the movie involve a scene with an elevator and a vicious dog. Don’t discard this FANTASTIC HORROR FILM
The Ultimate Movie Review! – http://tss5078.blogspot.com – @tss5078 – Movies derived from naturally creepy places and situations should be the scariest movies of all-time. Unfortunately, most of the time they are way too predictable to even be entertaining and that was the case with P2. A woman gets trapped in her office parking garage, on a holiday weekend, and is being stalked. Sounds interesting, but it wasn’t. This film has got to be one of the slowest moving “thrillers” I’ve ever seen. The acting was actually pretty good in this film, but everything that happens, you know it’s coming sooner or later and there are no surprises what so ever. Like I said the acting was pretty good, so it’s not a total piece of shit, but it’s slow, predictable, and just a really weak story. I usually love the “it could happen” type of films, but if P2 really did happen, no one would be surprised or really care all that much.
