I had very low expectations for this film, but DARN IT, I liked it, and very much, the acting, the pace, and sure, maybe more than a few will guess the ending (I did, and I’m not Stephen King)but it’s still a very good movie, give it a try, it’s not like we have TONS of good movies laying around on the theaters anyway, I recommend it.

Is this the best thriller/horror type movie that has come out within the past few weeks? No.
Is it a decent genre movie that entertained me? Yes.
The ending is very obvious, but like Mr. Disgusting said in his review it depends on the individual. If you’ve seen a lot of these movies you will know the ending, otherwise you might be surprised.

Kudos to the cast for each and every one of them giving great performances.

Although blazingly predictable (thanks to the terrible ad campaign) A Perfect Getaway is entertaining from start to finish. I was throughly engaged, and I even jumped a few times. For that alone I give it a thumbs up, because really, what movies accomplish that these days?

A good movie. Not what I was expecting. The first hour was pretty boring but the last half hour was pretty good. The ending was really good. Could have been better but good enough to see once or twice. Milla is still hot though!!!

I have to say, I really enjoyed this movie. While I thought I knew how it was going to end going into it (I was right), I was thrown way off for quite a bit of the movie. It just didnt seem that kind that would fall where I figured it would. I figured I was right though about 30 minutes before the twist was revealed. All in all, it did throw me off. great movie, great acting, good twist, great story. I really did enjoy this one!

Just got back from watching ‘A perfect getaway’ Really good thriller guys. I figured out the twist about half way through the movie but it did a good job at throwing you off the first half. This film never tries to be “horror” but delivers the goods anyway. Very entertaining thriller but once you have seen it once and know the twist’s, it will loose it’s edge in repeat viewing. Entertaining none the less.

Did we really need the 15 minutes of explanation footage as to who the killers were? I was seriously sitting there wondering when It was going to be over. Along with everyone else, I too discovered out who the killers were closer to the beginning/half way point of the movie. I was hoping they would have showed more of Olyphant’s American-Jedi skills at the end, but that didn’t happen. This was a forgettable movie in my opinion, and I probably won’t be watching it on dvd again when it comes out.

I went to see this right after the collector.Maybe that was a bad idea.I thought much of it was weak and yes I had the ending pinned but the best part was the ending. The actual two characters I liked survived. All four did a great job in their role especially Milla. It was different for her.Worth checking out but its straight up thriller guys….no horror! think the old thrillers of the nineties!and then enjoy because I was looking for a gutsier movie!

When “A Perfect Getaway” was first announced, I thought that it would be extremely similar to “The Strangers”. But from looking at the previews and TV spots, I knew it was going for more of an action feel with some horror elements thrown in. I really didn’t care about seeing it, but my father was off work and we had nothing to do, so I suggested we go see this. In my opinion, the film is very mediocre, its not bad and its certainly isn’t anything special, its just very “amateur”. The writing really, really, sucks and is the reason why the film sucks. Not to mention the dialogue is laughable. David Twohy BOTH wrote and directed the film, but I honestly think he should just stick to directing, because his writing, for this film at least, really blows. Everything is so damn cliché and has been done a trillion times already. You’ll know the “twist” halfway through the film, its that damn predictable. The “twist” has been done in a trillion other psychological thrillers this decade already. I would name a few of the films its been done in, but me doing that will give away this film. A Perfect Getaway was a decent way to kill a few hours, but it did nothing to really stick out, I know I’m going to forget this film by later tonight. I suggest waiting for the DVD. I’ll only recommend this for fans of the whole “Lost In The Woods” type films. Once again, the writing was HORRIBLE! D+ for the film overall. PS. No idea how this got an “R” rating, this could’ve easily been PG-13, but I guess it got an R due to some of the vulgar language. So sorry gorehounds.

At first i thought this is going to be lame. But, at the end of it I thought it was well done. Also it turned out to be a really good movie. I do know i know the story line from some other movie (can’t put my finger on it) but, still It was well done! It was worth the $$.

Before going into the movie, I already knew how it was going to end. Not because I found out, but I knew it was supposed to have a huge twist. So naturally, I thought what would happen is what actually happened. But when I actually was in the theater watching the movie, I forgot about the twist and bought into what the director/writer was doing… throwing the audience off. That’s why when the twist actually came, it caught me off guard. So I have to give it to the good performances by Mila and Steve, and of course Timothy and the other girl. They were all awesome. This movie will not blow you away or anything, but it is a entertaining watch none the less.

Fantastic action/mystery/suspense thriller. If you go in expecting a slasher film or a horror film, then prepare to be disappointed by your own stupidity. The film has beautiful cinematography and locations, crisp directing and some great fight sequences, solid performances (Timothy was excellent) and an excellent screenplay with lots of film references, quotes and screenwriting references. The twist plays out well and the movie never fails to entertain, despite being a slow-burner at times. I’ve also read the screenplay and it’s definately the best screenplay I’ve read. One of my faves of 2009 overall! :)

The twist is very easy to figure out…

    but

Its still an enjoyable movie. Before the twist is revealed, the story was interesting and kept me hooked. If you figure the twist out, which any movie nut will, it kind of takes away from the whole reveal (obviously). But then the last 15 minutes are a very exciting chase. Timothy Olyphant is awesome as usual. Worth seeing.

Well the twist was kind of surprising and the cast and locations were solid but I still didn’t find anything thrilling or tension filled in this so called adventure/thriller. It started off pretty slow introducing us to three couples and one of the three couples might be the honeymoon killers looking for their next unsuspecting victims. It’s pretty much a whodunit from there on and I got taken back when I finally figured it out and in the back of my head I kind of knew that that will be the result, after that it lost its steam if it had any and it kind of had a safe cop out ending that didn’t race any pulses at least for me. Overall this was a servicable thriller that had a great cast and scenery but I wish it could of gone darker and deeper and it just could of been way better than what it ended up being and to me it almost can pass as a PG-13 movie. Wait for the dvd release! More of a 2.5 out of 5 stars than a 3 star rating.

Perfect example of why its a HUGE MISTAKE to advertise a “twist” in a film, the whole start to end your mind has that fact sinking in your mind and you probably overload your brain to figure things out and look at what could possibly be a “twist” therefor eliminating the movie going experience all together.

The preview of this film completly ruined the movie watching experience for me with this film, with that said it was predictable and nothing more than another who-done-it film where its pretty obvious who done it because you know theres going to be a twist, therefor the misdirection contained within the film is pointless and ruined.

I went into this movie already knowing that it would have a twist ending and I predicted the right killers before the movie had even started. The movie was very predictable and nothing really SURPRISED me in the movie. This is not something that I would see again or recommend for others to see. I thought the movie would be better and have more action in it.

The “Shocking twist” sub-genre is not new to the horror/thriller genre, but it’s certainly over-saturated the market for the last decade or so. Most of these films have a twist ending, just for the sake of having a twist ending. As if it were an afterthought. A Perfect Getaway is another type of “Twist ending” films, the entire movie was designed around the plot twist at the end. This can be a great success, or fail greatly. In the case of this film, it failed, at least for me.

The problem with this film is not it’s cinematography, it was beautifully filmed on the beaches of Hawaii, and the jungles of Puerto Rico. The acting was also well done. The problem is, it’s main plot device, the “Twist” is very easily detectable within the first 5 minutes of the movie, if you’re paying close attention. Once you realize what the twist at the end is going to be, the following 80 minutes, give or take is a complete waste. It’s the type of film that spends 9/10ths of the duration setting up the plot twist at the end, and then all the action happens in the last 10 minutes. The way the plot twist is revealed is also pretty underwhelming.

Don’t go out of your way to see this film, as it aims to disappoint. If you still want to see it, I’d recommend a netflix rental at best, or maybe even waiting for it to show up on Showtime.

    Overall, I’d give “A Perfect Getaway” 1.5/5

Interesting concept though predictable in it’s supposed “twist” at the end.
Milla Jovovich’s acting skills are less than impressive in fact she brought the movie down for me.
If you’re looking for graphic vilolence or high level gore you will be sorely disappointed..all that being said worth watching for Steven Zahn though def wait for the dvd and even then get a coupon.

Just like everyone is saying, I also already knew “the twist” which was so fuckin predictable its funny. They really thought they were fooling us when in reality the audience already played out the whole movie in their heads. You could tell this writer was in it for the check. Well, at least they TRIED to make a good ORIGINAL thriller, but unfortunately they failed miserably.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh I love Milla Jovovich. Im a huge fan of eveerything she does, Hell I even found some good in Ultraviolet. But what the hell was this? More scenic than scary. I knew the twist right off, but thats not what made it a bad movie. It mostly was the cast, who might I add did not click. the plot which there wasnt one, and the very slow story. Timothy Olyphant stole the movie His chacarter was pretty different, and that is what I mean by the casr didnt click. He pretty much took over the lead. I wasnt happy with this movie at all. Hardly any Gore, no start, confusing ending. Ugh… Ill give it a 5 because the shooting scenes were absoulely beautiful.

If I can say anything about this film, it is really fun. It makes fun of its own structure during the entire run time of the film and honestly I loved it. There were definite plot holes, but overall this made me leave the theater feeling great. I personally think it was well made especially thanks to the settings, and some of the acting talents.

If you are part of the MTV generation, where nothing but nonstop action/gore makes you satisfied, this movie is definitely not for you. This movie has a slow build up, with a pacing similar to the movie turistas.

The plot of the movie is the standard “couple goes into the wild” (e.g. Eden Lake, Timber Falls, Storm Warning etc. etc.). But what makes this movie interesting and fun to me is the different characters in the movie. The acting in done well, and so are the twists (I didnt see it comming till the last half of the movie).

What makes or breaks a movie like this is how much you know about it before watching it. I hadnt watched neather trailers nor read a plot outline before watching the movie, so I had no idea of the twists going in to the movie.

IMO this movie is a solid movie with a good plot, good acting and good filming. Check it out.

This was not a “perfect” film by any means and not even thrilling at all. Although there were twists and turns to be had, it just was not very suspenseful. I normally love everything Steve Zahn is in and Mila Jovovich is always great at being the action chick, I just thought it was not believable. I actually thought the other couple was a lot more interesting. I was really disappointed and glad I rented this film and not wasted my money at the silver screen.

I just watched this on dvd and glad I did. I figured out the “twist” five minutes into the movie. It’s very obvious, just watched the video footage of the wedding. I was bored until the last 30 minutes of the film. This could have been a great film, but not enough effort was put into the storyline. If you can figure out the twist before the opening credits are done, then it is not a twist.

A Perfect Getaway was a fairly decent movie. as it has already been exhausted in these reviews, the twist is pretty obvious from the get go. i agree with an earlier review that said that the trailer gives it away and the studio really screws themselves when they advertise a “twist ending” because your going into the movie knowing theres a twist and your looking for any and all clues to figure it out instead of just chilling out and watching the movie. had i not known there was a twist, i would have been pleasantly surprised by it and probably would have given it a higher score. the acting was really good and it was surprisingly funny. i agree with Mr.D, the Nic Cage line was hilarious. overall its a decent movie with an ok twist, which could have been alot better had they not have advertised it ahead of time. alot of potential that ultimately falls a little flat.

Stared off good but when the twist rears it’s ugly head the entire movie falls apart. High points are Steve Zahn’s and Olyphant’s performances. They were both fun to watch. The twist completely ruins the movie tho. You see it coming and you keep thinking there is no way it will happen because it would make many of the scenes between the 2 main characters make completely no sense. Then it happens. Plus the 3rd couple in the movie is very under utilized. They are in the movie probably for a total of 10 minutes or less.

It’s bad enough that the twist is obvious but did they really need to spend 15 minutes explaining the twist once it happened? That killed all of what suspense was left.

How about the random multi-screen editing job during the climax too?

This film would have been better served without the lame twist and instead they should have made this picture more like “Last House on the Left in the jungle. I think that would have been far more compelling than what they went with.

Right by the middle of the movie, I figured out who the killers were. I tried to ignore all the freaking obvious clues and predictability, it almost worked. Once they revealed the killers, after a very annoying and confusing flashback, the film kind of picked up the pace/action and made up for the drag at the beginning.

The film a perfect getaway i was really looking foward to i was gonna go see this but i went and saw G.I. Joe instead this movie look interesting i liked the feel and the vibe of this film. To start of this movie had a great cast Steve Zahn Milla Joivch and the always great Timothy Olyphant he always gives the best performances. I really most like him in Scream 2 and Live Free or Die Hard. This movie centers around this hude twist at the ending i am not gonna give it away but let me tell i called at the first 10mins into the film.

The perfect Getaway starts of as a couple (Steve Zahn and Milla Jovich) on there honeymoon in Hawi and they couldent be happier. So they come across some strangers and they seem susp*cious like they were up to somthing and it is times like that where i say this movie is predictable. Anyway they head up to this hiking trail. Were it is supposed to be gorgeous but halfway they catch wind that there has been a murder of a couple just recently and now they are worried.

And right before that happends they run into another couple (Timothy Olyphant and Keely Sanchez) and of course (Steve and Milla) think they are the killers and they of course seem susp*cious and then you know what happens in this predictable movie the 2 couples run into the couple eariler that seemed susp*cious.

This movie was like i have been saying this whole review was predictable and when the twist showed up in the end i was not surprised it was like jeese could have come up with something better. Now i am being so nice is becuase this movie was somewhat entertaining and had some Mystery to it like after you find out who the real killers are there motive is kinda of shocking but not really now you might be surprised by the twist but then again you might not. If i would have went and saw this in the theaters i would have said Rent It. and that is what i am saying now Rent The Perfect Getaway its worth that Much.

YOU SHOULD WATCH THIS MOVIE…WHAT ELSE DO YOU HAVE TO DO?! Most of the movie was just average. Your typical “who dunnit?” movie where you know there’s a killer out there, but now you just gotta find him. Nothing special, but nothing terrible either.

However, I thought the end was incredibly clever. I love the whole drug addiction twist: I wasn’t really expecting it. I like it when they throw in a really unpredictable twist like that. Yes, I had already guess who the killers were gonna be…but the drug addiction just tweaked that twist to a new peak that I really appreciate.

To sum it all up: this movie is alright, so give it a chance when there’s nothing else on TV to watch.

Beautiful scenery but extremely slow paced. The story was fairly interesting though, which saved it. Overall it’s average, worth a watch but not worth buying.

Great thriller movie! The nice plot twist was something I didn’t guess, but suspected toward the end. I liked how the “true” killers switched things up in order to cover for themselves. Overall, I would recommend watching this movie at least once!

I guessed the “big twist” pretty early on, but still enjoyed this film. Good cast with a good story. Worth a watch!

to be honest, i watched this film because timothy olyphant was in it! not a bad film but a little bit predictable and it dragged slightly in certain places. Would have liked to have seen a bit more gore in it!!

I really enjoyed this movie because it had good acting, a good storyline, a cool twist at the end, and Timothy Olyphant (<3).

Official Score: 2.5 / 5
