I havent seen alot of killer car movies in general, let alone that are good, this was a fun ride of afilm and definatly interesting and mysterious villian “the car”
The parallels between THE CAR, and JAWS are too obvious to ignore, from the naturalistic acting to the wide-screen presentation. The Jaws theme replaces with a horn-based theme that gets a bit annoying after a bit. That being said, THE CAR is classic 70′s filmmaking at it’s best.
My very first “r” movie I saw at my grandparents. Wathched it when I was 7, and after that I, knew I would be a horror fan forever. Horn sound was very creepy.
One of the first car-horror-flicks, clearly influenced by “Duel” and “Jaws”, yet still pretty original and unique. The car (a rebuilt Lincoln Mark III) looks terrifically creepy and its honking sounds really terrifying. The whole movie is quite suspenseful and atmospheric, the cast is really good (James Brolin, John Marley…), the soundtrack is brilliant and the last 10-15 minutes are just marvellous.
Love this! Fav when I was little, creepy and stuff, boy version of Christine.
By the title, you can already assume this movie is oretty ridiculous…and trust me…it was. There were some annoying sped up sequecnes and the film is never very intense or creepy, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t entertained. I never once thought about turning the film off. Films like these are for days when you can’t find anything else to do. It’s nothing worth seeking out, but for what it is, it’s a bit of campy fun.
