Watched this last night. While it wasn’t a terrible movie by any means, I was left feeling disappointed. Bad Tiger effects and a weak ending really hurt this one. Briana Evigan was better in Sorority Row.
This movie sucked. IDK why Mr. D liked it so much. It wasn’t tense at all. It was boring as fuck. Nothing exciting happens at all. Whoopie she’s being chased around by a tiger. If this was real life I would of been scared for sure. But since it’s not I wasn’t. It’s good for a rainy day and to kill some time thats about it. There’s far better movies out their that are more tense and scarier then this.
want tense, scary, and something really messed up try Right at your door, or Home movie.
sorry this didn’t do much at all.
This movie was well done. Loved the connection between the brother and sister, the tiger was scary as hell. Nice tension. Good flick.
Cool flick. I would have went to theaters to see it.
bad ass flick this type of movie is meant to b watched in the theatre or at home with a nice surround sound watchin it without ss just wouldnt get same effect
Burning Bright was a very well made low budget film that should of made it into the cinemas. It was original and suspenseful and is a great movie to watch on a stormy day. Briana Evigan is truly a great actress and should have a promising career. Hopefully she continues to appear in this genre. The tiger was bad ass and the tension in the movie wsa great. Definitely buy this movie. Its not the best thriller of the year but it is original and suspenseful and thats more than you can say about the big budget horror films to come out in the last year
With this ridiculous premise, it’s surprising how well-executed this film is. I really enjoyed it. It was basically a slasher film with a tiger. Fun.
t’s too bad that this film was pretty much buried by Lionsgate especially considering the garbage they release. I was lucky enough to see this clever, nail biting little horror film about a young girl and her autistic brother trapped in their house by a raging hurricane with a starving bengal tiger. I know some of you may be scratching your heads especially given the recent success of the hangover. But don’t be mistaken Burning Bright is a taut tightly executed horror thriller with solid performances especially from Brianna Evigan as the films heroine. There were several moments where I found myself yelling out just out of sheer suspense. Like the crazy scene in the laundry shoot where the tiger is clawing it’s way at her or the scene where she has to bash through a wall to save her and her brother as the tiger closes in on them. The film sports solid direction and claustrophobic cinematography which lends its self to the films overall effect. That being said with a little tinkering the film could have made a really solid theatrical release. Some of the shots feel a little uneven and the finale could have used a little more work. Still what stands is a highly entertaining new spin on the genre thats nail biting, heart pounding and just plain scary.
A very solid, intense, suspenseful creature feature that should of went to theaters but unfortunately got sent straight to dvd. The acting was great but Briana Evigan pretty much carries the movie and the story though simple had a few clever twists and it was fast paced and didn’t slow down. It wasn’t really gory at all which most of the time is bad for a creature feature but they instead focused on the thrills, characters and suspense which worked for it as well as the atmosphere. The ending was good and was satisfying for the most part and they did really good job with the tiger and I liked how they avoided CGI as much as possible and the whole situation came off as very believable which makes it all the more terrifying. Overall this was a very strong effort and underrated and shows that little is sometimes more when it comes to these movies and I highly enjoyed it. Recommended if you like movies like Cujo. More of a 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Very different film but ends up being a really good thriller. Too many giant cat movies end up sucking but this one does it right and hits all the notes. Very entertaining and I enjoyed it a lot.
Just finished watchin this flick. Been reading about it ever since it started filming and had the feeling that, with the premise, it was either going to be really good or really bad. Turns out it’s definitely the former. The acting is good and they used real tigers so that’s awesome. My only complaints are a crappy bit of CGI(Apparently it’s the only CGI shot in the movie, but I thought it was really noticeable.) and the ending is a little weak. It was a rental but I definitely think it deserves a space in my collection.
I’ve been dying to see this movie and finally bought it. It made me jump a few times. Wild animals on the loose-type movies have always been one of my favorite kinds. It’s worth watching. The chick in the movie kept her cool a hell of a lot better than I would have, I ain’t gonna lie.
.
A Very Suspenseful Tight Little shocker- I was on the edge throughout- Great Performances by the Brother and Sister – The Laundry Shute Scene had me pulling my hair out LOL – Not a wasted moment – the Tiger was truly Scary….
The most suspenseful film I have seen this year! A true nail biter than keeps you on the edge of your seat for 80 straight minutes! That sounds cliche I know but THIS MOVIE REALLY IS!
This film was so damn good. I was highly surprised. The trailer wasn’t very promising, but the film really delivered a huge suspenseful punch to the gut. I was on the edge of my seat the entire film. Such a shame it wasn’t released in theaters! It would have made a KILLING.
More than a year ago I first saw a trailer for “Burning Bright” and it deeply impressed me. Now that it’s out on DVD and I’ve finally seen it, I truly can say: yes, this is a great movie and it totally lives up to my expectations.
It’s extremely suspenseful, thrilling and gripping with a terrific claustrophobic feeling and many heart-stopping edge-of-seat scenes (the scene in the laundry chute – outstanding!!). The acting of Briana Evigan (next big star?) and Charlie Tahan (very believable!) is absolutely stunning, the story is great, the script is perfectly written and well-paced, and last but not least: the tiger, a real one, just looks fantastic.
An excellent and highly enjoybale flick. Recommended!
I was not expecting much……sorry Mr.D, But i was super surprised!!! I was so tense i felt like i had to move durring the whole movie, this will warrant many rewatches. good call!
Nope!
A good concept for a movie. You would think, from the story and even the cover of this movie, that this would be kind of corny. But this ended up being scarier than some of the horror movies I’ve seen as of late. A brother and sister are trapped in there boarded up house because of a hurricane, and face a pissed off tiger (which conveniently hasn’t eaten in 2 weeks) that was released into their home. Some tense moments and a payoff ending, make this movie worth a watch.
Interesting movie. Very different from anything I have seen before and really well done. Maybe not a true horror movie, but it keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. This Director is definitely talented.
Cool and original plot. Some really tense scenes. Especially the laundry chute one. This one goes in my top 20 something list for sure. Acting was ok but Briana Evigan is still very hot. I couldnt take my eyes from her ass.
Great bit of fun
very original. a fun ride that you shouldn’t miss.
Pleasantly surprised. Considering the budget wasn’t much, the actors and plot really worked well.
Fun and suspenseful.
Burning bright had some great ideas and is well shot, but I can’t put it on my top of 2010 as many others eem to have done. The story is very hard to beleive and get into. I understand that it’s hard to figure out how to get a tiger into a house to chase people around, but I felt that they made a wrong choice by going with this plot. I also did not like the casting. The main actress did a good job but most of the other characters felt out of place and gave the film a negative cheese qaulity. It has some intense moments and some good camera work that add to the atmosphere, but Burning bright feels more of a mis-step than a noteable horror film of 2010.
Arriving completely under my movie radar and only found due to some year’s best lists, Burning Bright is one of those thriller/suspense/quasi-horror films. It joins the killer crocs, piranhas and sharks as one of the best animal versus man films to be made in some time.
What makes this movie work so well is its almost criminal lack of build up. I seriously thought during the beginning that we were in for a long series of dramatic dialogues before finally getting to the action. Clearly Carlos Brooks decided that for a film like this, less was more. Instead we get about 10-15 minutes of intro material, out of an 85 minute movie. This means we spend the majority of the film being entertained.
Put simply, Burning Bright is about a girl and her autistic brother who find themselves trapped in a house, with a tiger, in the middle of a hurricane. A simple premise that easily carries us through a fast past hour and a half. I hesitate to say much more about the plot, as I really think this movie needs to be experienced first hand. Suffice it to say it is an intense, exciting thrill ride that will keeping you going.
I fully recommend this film as it is not only well-done, but will likely be viewed more than once by me and join my list of horror-movie show pieces that I like to keep to introduce friends to quality horror films.
Good for what it was I suppose. I’m not too big of a fan of horror films involving animals attacking people, b/c there’s only so much you can do with a live animal with actors and no CGI, which is what Burning Bright does. A decent film that has an interesting concept.
great suspenseful film, i love movies like this, man vs nature, or in this case woman
