There’s a long history of vampire movies that focus on teenagers, many of which are considered favorites of the genre. Arguably the most beloved would be 1987’s The Lost Boys, in which a beach town is quietly stalked by young-presenting bloodsuckers, while Buffy the Vampire Slayer flipped the script and focused on a young high schooler embracing her destiny to be a modern-day Van Helsing. And, for better or worse, who can forget the culture-defining Twilight series, which helped usher in a renaissance of love stories between younger characters and supernatural beings.
Lionsgate has released a new trailer for their upcoming The Teenage Vampire, which is about, unsurprisingly, a teenage vampire. You can check out the new trailer below.
The studio describes the movie, “When a straightlaced young woman moves into a chic bungalow in the Hollywood Hills, she imagines nothing but raging parties and romance in her future. But Sandra’s new dream house quickly becomes a den of horrors after she discovers her landlords are ancient vampires…and her first party guests are the victims of a bloody massacre. As the night grows more sinister and twisted, Sandra unearths the most terrifying secret of all.”
Starring in the movie are Jazlyn Nicolette Sward, Kelly Lynn Reiter (Deadlock, Guns Up, Mojave Diamonds), James Chalke (Renegades, Don’t Kill It, Dead Trigger), Spice Williams-Crosby, Luke Gregory Crosby, Courtney Akbar (Boneyard, Clown Fear, Ace & the Christmas Miracle), and Michael Cervantes (Night Carnage, The Salem Chronicles, 7 Days to Hell).
As confirmed by the movie’s title and the tone of the trailer, The Teenage Vampire doesn’t look to be taking itself too seriously or does it look to be attempting to be a dark and disturbing experience, feeling almost like a new take on Fright Night and its exploration of a teen who suspects their neighbor of being a vampire.
The Teenage Vampire hits Digital on October 27.
