‘The Crow’s’ Original Creator, James O’Barr Returns To The Series With A New Book From IDW

The currently running “Crow” comic from IDW has been received quite negative reactions from fans and critics alike. Perhaps this was an elaborate ruse on IDW’s part; taint the series so that the original creator has no choice but to come back to fix it. James O’Barr, original creator of “The Crow” is returning to his baby with a three-issue miniseries titled “Skinning the Wolves” set for release this winter. READ MORE

First Look: The Crow #1

While speculation regarding the film remake is still buzzing about, the new Crow comic series is well under way. Thankfully, there’s no Bradley Cooper in this one. The comic series from IDW ventures to Tokyo where The Crow is reborn as Jamie Osterberg. It’s been a while since we’ve had “The Crow” around, but so far this series looks more than promising. Milla Jovovich Has ‘Bad Luck’ With David Ellis

In an interview over at Moviehole director David R. Ellis reveals that Resident Evil star Milla Jovovich will be starring in his $30 million dollar horror Bad Luck, a pic that tells of a group of friends find their lives changed when the superstitions they don’t believe in begin to come true. The screenplay was penned by David Schow (The Crow, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning). No word on a start date. First Official Stills, More Details On ‘Knowing’

This evening USA Today posted your first look at Nicolas Cage as a father who tries to avert the end of the world in Knowing, a film being directed by Alex Proyas (The Crow, Dark City). The pic can be found inside from the film that follows as a man who discovers a series of numbers that foretell catastrophes, including the 9/11 attacks. Cage discovers a letter buried in a time capsule outside a school. It doesn’t mean anything to him until he sees the digits 911, which sets him on a course to prevent further catastrophes. Rose Byrne, Chandler Canterbury, Ben Mendelsohn, Adrienne Pickering, Tamara Donnellan, Brett Robson and Jayson Sutcliffe also star in the film arriving in theaters March 20, 2009. (more…) READ MORE

Dark Castle’s ‘The Hills Run Red’ Casts Up!

Sophie Monk and Tad Hilgenbrinck (Lost Boys: The Tribe, Amusement) are starring with William Sadler (The Mist, Demon Knight) in The Hills Run Red (first announced back in April), the latest horror production from Dark Castle Home Entertainment and Warner Premiere. Shooting is underway in Sofia, Bulgaria. Alex Wyndham and Janet Montgomery also star in the production, which is being directed by Dave Parker and is written by David J. Schow (“The Crow”) and John Dumbrow from a story by Dumbrow and John Carchietta. The story centers on a film fanatic whose obsession with finding a complete print of an infamous slasher movie leads him and two friends into the backwoods where the film was shot. They realize too late that filming never ended — and now they must survive a nightmarish onslaught or become part of the movie forever.

Hood Over MGM’s ‘Stigmata 2′

Sean Hood – who is best known for Cube 2: Hypercube, Halloween: Resurrection and The Crow: Wicked Prayer – wrote into B-D to tell us that he wrote Stigmata 2 for MGM and 360 Pictures. “I handed in the first draft the day before the strike started,” he tells us. Hood also penned the screenplay for Subterranean, which has Marcus Nispel (Texas Chainsaw Massacre) attached to direct. You gotta love the guys over at NECA, when they get the rights to make a figure they double dip as much as possible, which is great for us action figure collectors. Today they announced the return of Eric Draven as a member of their upcoming third series of their Cult Classics Hall of Fame line. From the classic revenge-horror-action-romance masterpiece The Crow comes Eric Draven, sporting a pose that has become iconic to countless Crow fans. Shirtless, arms spread, with full Crow makeup and his trademark black guitar slung on his back, this new figure is a haunting version of the undead anti-hero. Special Look at Bousman’s ‘REPO! The Genetic Opera’!

We’ve scored some cool things over the past few years, but this one really takes the cake! Last night we attended a very special screening of a short film entitled REPO! The Genetic Opera, which was directed by none other than Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II, Saw III)! The short is being used as a pitch for a feature length film, which is going to set the world on fire! I seriously haven’t seen anything this unique in a long time — I’d say it’s Rocky Horror meets Phantom of the Opera meets The Crow. Can you think of anything cooler? NECA’s ‘Hall of Fame’ Line Includes New ‘Pinhead’

Later this Fall NECA will release a limited edition Cult Classics Series entitled “Hall of Fame“, according to their official blog. This collection will be produced in limited quantities and is comprised of characters that were previously only available in deluxe boxed sets or in some cases we have sculpted new pieces to make some of the figures different from versions previously released. Marilyn Manson/Richardson ‘Rise’ from the Grave

Shock rocker Marilyn Manson has been rumored to be joining Lucy Liu, Michael Chiklis, Carla Gugino, James D’Arcy and Robert Forster in Universal and Ghost House Pictures’ upcoming horror film Rise, according to Cinescape. Cameron Richardson has been confirmed as a new addition by Variety. Sebastian Gutierrez’s supernatural thriller follows a female reporter who wakes up in a morgue to find herself a member of the undead. Dimension’s ‘Crow: Wicked Prayer’ Flying DTV

After exchanging soft blows with an actress in the film (story) and warding off rumors from other websites regarding the release of Dimension Films’ The Crow: Wicked Prayer, it looks like we were right on the money. In a special DVD holiday issue of Variety, Dimension announced the next ‘Crow’ film as one of their direct-to-video DVDs for 2005, alongside Hellrasier: Hellworld/Deader and The Prophecy sequels. I guess the reports are true- the film is terrible, but you’ll be able to judge for yourself sometime in 2005. Although we never actually reported that it would be losing ‘The Crow’ from its title, Moviehole writes, “The net’s a buzz – ok, a couple of horror sites – that the fourth Crow film, The Crow: Wicked Prayer is losing ‘The Crow’ from its title. Not so it seems – in the states anyway. A rep for the film checked in to let us know that the film will still be being released under “The Crow: Wicked Prayer” title in America – but couldn’t say whether they might release it as ‘Wicked Prayer’ overseas.” If you’re curious to where all this stemmed from, check this out.
