Very bland movie. It’s about 2 steps behind Deep Blue Sea, and a mile behind Jaws as far as shark movies go. Lots of horrible CGI, but also a couple decent shots. A couple mechanical shark shots that look good. Couple of nice deaths. Most of the deaths consist of the shark chomping someone underwater and chewing them up. If you want my opinion, go watch Piranha 3D instead. (Stay away from the awful sequel, Piranha 3DD)
As I watched Bait 3D I kept saying to myself “this is so stupid, I hate it… and yet I love it”.
So my guess is you know the plot, but here’s a quick rundown; we start with Josh, a local lifeguard, watching his friend get eaten by a shark. Flash forward a year and Josh is now working at a supermarket. 2 criminals try to rob the supermarket killing someone in the process, out of nowhere a cartoon sunami hits flooding the supermarket. Now trapped in the store we discover there is a 12 foot great whit shark on the prowl. From there we follow to storylines, the folks trapped in the market, and the ones in the buildings parking garage.
Okay, so 95% of the characters are unbearable, the couple trapped in the garage needed to be killed off before they started talking, and the main group of people made more random and dumb choices than I needed to see. But I’ll be damned if this ridiculous little movie wasn’t incredibly entertaining!
With the everything- and- the- kitchen- sink plot, and the fact that it’s a straight up “sharks in a supermarket” flick, I was expecting nothing more than dumb fun, and that’s what I got! I guess considering I love Aussie horror and shark movies I was destined to like this. This is the stupid gory 3D shark movie that Shark Night should have been, and it works!
Nothing more than a creature feature but its FUN! One thing I really enjoyed seeing some none C-G sharks for once. It has some great animatronics! And it was fun to see Julian McMahon in this movie cause I’m a fan of Nip/Tuck. If you want to watch a fun, bloody shark movie that kicks SHARK NIGHTS ass than this is a fun watch.
