I Absolutely LOVE The Documentary . The Claymation Intro and Claymation Segments Before Each Chapter were Just Brilliant ! All of the Interviews with the Cast & Crew are AMAZING ! I Particular Enjoyed The Cast Discussing The Gay Theme of Freddy’s Revenge on Chapter 4 ” Kill for Me “. Clu Gulager’s Mention of a Sexual Act was Hysterical. Not to Mention Bob Shaye as The Bartender in the Leather Bar Scene. They Discussed How Somebody Stole Robert Englund’s Freddy Glove from the Prop Truck as Well. During the Chapters They Put in Rare Photos and Test Footage Throughout the Interviews for Each Film. I Thought it was a Lovely Touch to the Documentary. The Bonus Features on Disc 2 are Phenomenal As Well. Christopher from RazorGloves.com is Featured on the * For The Love of The Glove * Segment. It Shows Him Making his Gloves and He Discusses How Long He’s Been Doing This for Fans. That Really Makes Me even More Excited to get My Custom Glove from Him Next Week. Also, Lito aka drwynn And His Wife are Featured As Well. The Shot He Posted of His Wife Wearing the Glove is Included . And The Segment Titled * A Nightmare on Elm Street in 10 Minutes * if Hilarious and I Thank the Actors for Doing it. Also, a Big Congrats to the Chosen People who are Shown on the Fred Heads Feature. I’m not going to Say Names, so you’ll have to find out for yourself and be surprised
(My Own Submission was NOT Included). For Those Wondering, The REMAKE of ANOES by PD is Featured on the Second Disc. I Will Say that I was Pleased Robert Englund has a Positive View on the Reboot and Seemed to Like The Idea . Although I can’t say the Same for Bob Shaye & Wes Craven, so just watch for Yourself & See. Last But Not Least I LOVED The Inclusion of Dan and Greta’s Uncut Death Scenes from Dream Child, and Also Behind the Scenes of Uncut Material During Each Chapter. I Rated This Documentary a Perfect 10/10 on IMDB and Also Here on BD.
Nightmare on Elm Street is one of my favorite horror movies. so I was sicked about this doc. It was amazing.
anyone know where i can buy this??
Excellent, excellent, excellent.
This really is the most comprehensive examination of the franchise you could hope for.
Aside from a few huge names (like Depp and Lawrence Fishburn), they interview everyone here, I mean EVERYONE (even, like, Bus Girl #2 from Nightmare 2)
A truly remarkable story of a man with a vision…and the monstrously huge result that is the Nightmare On Elm Street franchise.
If you haven’t ordered a copy yet, do so ASAP! Here’s waiting for “I Am Nancy”!
LOVVEEEEEEEEEEEEE this dvd. I actually fell asleep and woke up and it was only midway through..lol. No need for bonus material yet there was. They go in depth about every film and shared a couple of things I didn’t know especially about the GAY nightmare…lol. Excellent buy well worth the more and more go get it I promise you won’t regret it.
Overall, I was impressed with this and I recommend it to hardcore fans of the series. It had great interviews and tons of info about the series that I didn’t know. However, it’s only a documentary and not as fun to watch as the hype suggests. I disliked the music and the claymation. I felt these aspects took something away from the overall feel of the documentary.
This documentary is great, plain and simple. I’m not usually a huge documentary fan but this documentary is definitely entertaining to say the least.
I pre-ordered my copy and was stoked when it came in the mail. This documentary was thorough and well thought out. I was completely mesmorized from start to finish and watched it in one sitting. I never got bored and it never felt like four hours. In fact, I threw the bonus feature DVD in immediately after the feature(it was a Saturday and I was hungover). I recommend that anyone who likes the franchise own this DVD.
Dead Until Dark, there is a website dedicated to this documentary. The site is http://www.elmstreetlegacy.com.
Goes in to depth about everything to do with Krueger. Great interviews and great to see everyone’s perspective. A must watch for the ‘Nightmare’ fan.. 4 hours of feature presentation, and four hours of bonus features. Worth every cent.
It’s a wonderful documentary on every level. I loved seeing all of the old NIGHTMARE kiddos (Alice is smokin’ hot BTW). I do feel this would have been the end all be all if they had nabbed Depp, Arquette, Laurence Fishburne, Craig Wasson and even Breckin Meyer. Not that their absence tarnishes this glorious doc in any way, but it really would be nice to hear from those folks about the series. Watch this NOW.
The movie is actually entertaining and informative. The worst part is how the horror actresses aged. Ugh!! Some are nice, but… and Monica Keena! In Fred V. Jas she makes me want to rub one out, but seeing her now…I wan’t to cut off my dick and throw it at somebody…..anybody! She looks god awful!
A truly great documentary. Even non-fans should enjoy it.
The length-amazing, informative beyond belief, found out things I never knew about the series, for any fan of NOES or even horror in general PICK THIS UP!
if you havnt seen any of these movies your only excuse should be you were just born. if not hang your self your life is a lie!
Excellent documentary! One of the best I have ever seen! A must watch/own for Freddy fans!
Believe the hype. This documentary has set the benchmark for all other horror retrospectives to come. This is the definitive documentary of one of the most popular franchises the horror genre has ever seen, and it’s the ultimate love letter to the thousands of fans worldwide who worship the series. It really doesn’t get much better than this. So much time, effort and care has gone into this and it’s obvious that the people involved actually give a damn. No stone is left unturned in this dissection of Elm St and it’s widely successful sequels. Each film, from the original right up to FVJ is given it’s own lengthy segment and all feature interviews with just about everyone. The writers, directors, producers, various crew members and the cast all reflect on the movies, their creations and their legacies. Not only is it a history lesson on Freddy, but the company who birthed him and vice versa, New Line Cinema. The interviews are honest and very, very candid and if you think you know everything about the movies then wait till you watch this. The doco itself is 4 hours long and that’s not including the bonus disc.
This is an absolute must see for Freddy fans and for people who only have a mild interest in the franchise should also check it out.
Wow. This is probably the best horror film documentary I have yet to have seen. I watched all 4 hours of this fascinating and BRILLIANTLY made movie in one night (in two sittings mind you.) Never have I seen a documentary so in depth, specific, and fantastically JAM-PACKED with interviews from practically EVERYONE EVER INVOLVED with the entire franchise of this series. The filmmakers covered each Nightmare film respectively in order. It was all made so well, they cut the film up to create individual “Making of Features” for each of the movies to be used on future Blu-ray or DVD releases. Loved this doc! I actually wasn’t REALLY into the whole Nightmare franchise until I saw this doc. Now I feel that I should go and watch the rest of the ones I haven’t seen!!
An utterly fantastic study of the Nightmare films. (And the discussion of part two’s homoerotic subtext is hysterical)
BEST HORROR DOCUMENTARY EVER. Wait, let me correct that…BEST DOCUMENTARY EVER! Humor, insight, interesting stories, plenty of materials…there was so much there, yet I yearned for more when it was over! Every Elm Street fan needs this in their DVD library.
the ultimate horror documentary ever. a very good edition to any horror collection. if i could i would give this 6 stars
Have it. Love it.
