It was actually really different too. Deft check this movie out. The music was dope too. This one reminded me of like critters but our generation.

To my surprise my local theater was showing this film, I had read the BD review and I have to say it was spot on. It’s been a long time since I enjoyed a movie this much the only problem was it was only my girlfriend and me there.

This movie is as good as everyone says it is. The plot is ver simple aliens fall in a gang ridden area of England I think and thats where it goes from. Now I find it very hard for me to feel for these characters because they are a bunch of teenage gang bangers and they are kind of a bunch of assholes but towards the end you start to like them but that’s beside the point. The aliens in this movie are awesome and there are also some great effects too. I would highly recommend this movie because to me it is like the Critters of our generation.

Over rated but still pretty good. I was definitely expecting more. I think I need to stop reading reviews before I see the film, usually nothing lives up to the hype.

An entertaining, stylized, energetic, witty, fun, fast pace and thrilling monster/alien movie that brought the old school back to the creature feature. I will admit though that this movie is highly overrated and the creatures way too silly looking with an video game vibe but the group of hysterical characters and the performances from mostly unknown actors gives this film a certain charm that might grant it cult status. The movie had a few good jump scares and the action scenes were a blast and monster chomping goods but it just didn’t have much suspense in it to make it surprising and not enough laughs to make it hilarious and just not that terrifying to take it seriously which was probably not their intention anyway but it’s just no Shaun Of The Dead, Tremors, Critters either but their premise is just as fresh. The movie ends on a predictable note but satisfying, the movie as a whole though is not that memorable and the story not that strong to care about much of anything in it but it sure is a fun popcorn flick to watch with your buddies just not as good as most critics claims. I don’t know if you could call it a masterpiece but its damn close. From the producers of Shaun of the Dead comes the alien version (Only less humor). Its like Critters on steroids with the classic feel of Killer Clowns From Outer Space. I would have liked to see more use from Nick Frost but I guess that’s why hes in the background. This is one of the best movies of the year that you’ll probably hear nothing about.

I believe that how much you like this movie will be based directly on your age. It really feels like the film equivalent of corporate rock, its too over produced to be edgy. Basically a stoner/sci fi hybrid aimed squarely at the youth set. Too slick for it’s own good and highly over rated.

I can smell an instant cult classic from (at least) a mile away. Pretty much anyone can too; so long as they devote the time to seek such films out. Of course, a cult classic cannot be given that title initially; rather, it earns it over time, but with Joe Cornish’s “Attack the Block”, I’m absolutely certain that there shall someday be an audience that truly loves it and calls it their own. Yes, my friends, you could be looking at the next big cult movie; a sci-fi action-comedy with wit, humor, style, suspense, and even heart. Here, Cornish has made his feature film debut as a writer and a director. I admit that I didn’t know much about the filmmaker before I walked in, which was probably the right approach, since I walked out pleased and surprised by his talent. After finishing the film, I googled the director’s name, and found that he had some past experience as a comedian. I am even told that he co-wrote the screenplay for 2011′s “Tintin” film. So he has a background, and with a bit of luck, it will only expand from here on out. He has achieved something rather remarkable, and flamboyantly irresistible, here. “Attack the Block” is pure fun, and as a work of entertainment alone, it really delivers.

If you’re like me and you’ve seen a few good British films in your time, then gangs and “hoodies” will be nothing new to you when you approach this one. The film involves a gang of young British punks who believe that they rule the streets around them; instead of “the hood”, they call their area “the block”. They mug whoever they please, whenever they please. A few have families, and others do not. Each kid in the gang is initially presented as nasty and genuinely difficult to admire in any way, shape, or form, but I must confess; as time goes on, we start to like the little bastards.

Anyways, the gang members find themselves caught in the middle of an alien invasion. Little dog-like extraterrestrials are crash-landing to earth in what seems like meteorites; nobody else notices them, since they arrive on a night of celebration through fireworks, so it’s up to the kids to resort to their own wits – as well as anyone else who could possibly believe the situation at hand – in order to get through the night that is upon them.

This is a simple movie; it really is. But then again, so are most cult movies; which is why “Attack the Block” might aspire to become one. It provides the audience with a few of the thrills that we have been lead to expect from these sorts of alien invasion-type films, as well as a surplus of unexpected laughs; most of them delivered by Nick Frost, in a delightful supporting role as a drug dealer named Ron. As far as his purpose goes, I can’t say he was NEEDED, but Frost is a pleasant and almost always funny on-screen presence, and hey, this is better than “Paul”, an earlier 2011 film that also starred the British comic performer; so therefore, I can’t complain about the simplicities or any of the problems. The film does exactly what it set out to do. Some might find that it packs even more of a punch than I think it to have; give it a few years, and I might bring myself to love it.

While it’s sometimes hard to tell due to the incredibly good cinematography and first-rate performances from both the young and old actors, Cornish’s film is fairly low-budget science-fiction-fare. I’m sure it’s not the most low-budget movie out there, but alas, I’m getting off my initial topic; and I must continue. I bring up the budget because I’m sure you’ve got those “invasive species”, the aliens, on your mind; I know I did. The space invaders here aren’t the best looking fellows; but I suppose that’s alright since Cornish would rather keep them in the shadows, where they best blend in, for a good portion of the film. The creatures sport fur that’s the deepest shade of black out there, and the only other distinctive feature is their teeth, which glow a bright shade of blue. So they aren’t the most inspired aliens on the market, I get that, but then again, “Attack the Block” is less about the invaders and more about the survival. And at that, it is both a charming and thoroughly engaging experience.

I really hope that Cornish goes on to make more features after this one. It’s a pretty solid debut; well-made and clever in a way that few modern alien invasion flicks truly can be. There’s a moral message here that certainly attempts to separate it from most of its kind, and I’ll admit, it even comes closer to “scary” than a majority of this year’s films that met with the “horror” label. In its own little way, the film is kind of special. I can’t say that now, in 2011, I think it’s a great film, but as I mentioned earlier, that could indeed change. Here’s hoping that it will; it’s always a personal delight when a film keeps getting better-and-better, and I have no doubt on my mind that “Attack the Block” will one day earn a special place in my heart. But as of now, I found it a fast-paced, enjoyable, smartly written, and appropriately funny flick. I hope it finds that cult audience that it was made for.

I loved this movie. The action and suspense were awesome. I was on the edge of my seat the entire movie waiting to see what would happen next. There was something happening from the first five minutes to the last moment. Not to mention the amazing score. I will be buying this one asap and showing to all of my horror loving friends.

Not good. The characters are very annoying and unlikable. The first monster is sweet then the rest are boring black glowing apes. This movie would have been better if every one of the kids died in the first 10mins of the movie.

Attack The Block is a homage to classic 80′s creature features. It’s fun, unique, and a great film. It’s a little overrated in my opinion but it’s still a fun film. I recommend it.

Terrible! Could care less if the main characters were killed or not. They were just little punks, but what makes or break any good Horror flick is the bad guy and the Aliens were a joke. Gorillas with neon blue teeth? Oh yeah I wanted to smack the shit out of the turd hiding in the garbage can.

This movie was way cool and fun to watch. The characters had awesome personalities that made them very different but very cohesive as a group. The aliens were interesting but the neon teeth were sweet! The soundtrack is way awesome, good blend of dub/dnb(drum and bass) music. Urban London kids are the coolest.

This movie is way awesome to see with friends, i saw it twice in theaters and loved it more and more every time. I don’t consider it a horror film as much as Sci-fi, but all in all is great for movie fans alike. Definitely a good film and one to own.

Outside of kinda-goofy overgrown Chia pets with glow choppers and a whipper snapper bunch of thugs that are a tad too prickish to ever like—ATB works as some light sci-fi escapism. A total 80′s kids ‘n creatures vibe, lots of chase and fight action, and some unexpected violent edge make for a mostly fun ride. Nothing great, but surely entertaining. Nice change of pace after watching a bunch of serious horror.

Fuck “Battle L.A.”, “Super 8″ and even “Cowboys & Aliens” – THIS is THE alien invasion movie of the year!
“Attack The Block” is a wild and extremely entertaining rollercoaster ride of a movie and nearly everything about it is just great.

It’s tense, fast-paced, action-packed and never gets boring, thanx to Joe Cornish’s superb direction and his excellent script. We get to see a surprisingly stunning and highly believable youngster-cast (stand-outs: John Boyega and Alex Esmail), as well as 2 glorious performances from the adults Jodie Whittaker and Nick Frost (great as always).

The special effects all look fantastic and the alien-creature design (black ape/dog-like monsters with blue-glowing teeth) looks just marvellous. Cinematography and editing are brilliant, the block-settings (with all its elevators and corridors) were very well chosen, the pumping soundtrack from Basement Jaxx is ear-blowing and last but not least, it’s filled with hilarious dialogue lines like
    “What’s Ron’s weed room?” – “It’s a room… filled with weed… that belongs to Ron.” /
“We should call the police.” – “You’re better off calling the Ghostbusters, love.” /
“Moses… Ninja!!” / “Right now, I feel like goin’ home, lockin’ my door and playin’ Fifa.”

One of this year’s greatest highlights. An inventive and original must-see Action-SciFi-Horror-Comedy, HIGHLY recommended!!!

Fuck the aliens wanting to kill these punks, I wanted to fucking murder them with a blunt butter knife! Could of cared less about the little pretentious fucks, which destroyed the film for me off the bat. Half skull for the glowing teeth.

This was getting some decent comment about this movie, I thought it sound like something I would really like.

However I saw the whole movie today, I found it really disappointing , I Just could not get into this movie at all.

This movie start of when some early teens thugs mug a lady, only for alien to come crashing down on a car next to her,

Aliens were not scary but i liked how they made there eyes the teeth as well. that is the only thing that I liked in this movie

There were some bloody moment in the movie, nothing too gory and

I did not find this movie funny at all, was meant to be a Horror/comedy ? I did not laugh once in this movie.

I hated the ending of the movie, i just found whole movie really bland

The acting was decent from most of cast, some of the cast were really poor.

    5 out of 10

Official Score: 4.5 / 5
