It was recently announced that Blumhouse regular, Gregory Plotkin, who directed Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension and edited this year’s hit genre movie Get Out, would direct Hellfest for Lionsgate and CBS Films. Plotkin replaced Jennifer Chambers Lynch (Chained, Boxing Helena, Surveillance, Hisss), who was attached last year, while Neill Marshall (Dog Soldiers, Doomsday, The Descent) was to direct the project back in 2012.
News today is that they’ll be making a Halloween date with this one, targeting release on October 12, 2018.
The film is set at a horror theme park during Halloween where a night of fun turns deadly as a costumed killer begins slaying unsuspecting patrons who believe that it’s all part of the festivities.
“The Walking Dead’s” Gale Anne Hurd is producing via her company Valhalla Motion Pictures. It was previously reported that CBS Films president Terry Press is a longtime fan of the Hellfest concept, believing it could spark a horror franchise.
