A lawsuit has been filed against Paramount and the producers of Paranormal Activity 4 alleging they stole ideas and story elements from a pitch meeting. 5 MORE Horror Movies With Horrible Endings!!!

As often as the importance of endings is stated, it can never be stated loud enough. Can you have a reasonably enjoyable film with a bad ending? Sure, there are plenty. Just as there are more bad films than good films, there are more bad endings than good endings (even amongst good films). READ MORE

[BEST & WORST '12] The Worst Posters Of Year!

Posters, when done right, are an art form. Sure, they’re advertisements, but they’re also such a great artistic challenge. Representing the identity of a movie – and getting people in the door – with a single image? That’s tough. READ MORE

[BEST & WORST '12] The Best Trailers Of The Year!

In a perfect world, we wouldn’t need trailers. We’d magically show up at the movie theater, be seated in front of a screen and watch an amazing movie that we, up until that point, had never seen a frame of footage from. READ MORE

[BEST & WORST '12] Evan Dickson’s List Of The Worst Horror Movies Of 2012!

Writing for a genre site is funny sometimes. Since we keep things more or less related to horror around here, we wind up examining almost every movie that comes out that could be potentially associated with that genre. This means that I end up watching a lot of movies that are so bad many people are just flat-out unaware of their existence. So when I look around to sites that cover every genre – and therefore have a more mainstream cross-section from which to pull their “best” and “worst” lists – I’m always surprised at what stuff is worthy of the “worst” designation. I think to myself, “this guy named ‘Snow White And The Huntsman’ one of the year’s worst movies. That’s as bad as it got for him.” While I’m sure that film is terrible, I’d bet a major organ that it’s far better than Snow White: A Deadly Summer. READ MORE

[BEST & WORST '12] David Harley’s List of the Worst Horror Films of 2012!

2012 has been a snoozer of a year for horror for the most part. I can’t think of another year that I’ve been with the site when I’ve been more indifferent, bored, disappointed, and otherwise unamused by most of what I watched. Not like it should come as a huge shock to anyone that went to the theatre this year, but most of what I’ve included on my Worst Of list are studio films that feel like they were distributed and made by people who just don’t care. Marketing and brand loyalty made some of these movies money, not the actual quality of what was on screen – talk about depressing. READ MORE

[BEST & WORST '12] Mr. Disgusting’s List of the Worst Horror Films of 2012!

I recently has a few conversations with people about posting “Worst of the Year” lists as it’s in a way “kicking a dog when it’s down.” Time could be better spent sending positive energy into the world, but on the same token it’s our job to critique films; we are supposed to provide advice on what you should and shouldn’t see. [Box Office] ‘Paranormal Activity 4′ Opens 43% Lower Than ‘Part 3′, ‘Paranormal Activity 5′ Officially Announced

Paramount Pictures’ Paranormal Activity 4 hit theaters on Friday. And it pulled in a little north of $30M domestic (and around $26.5M foreign for a worldwide total of around $57M). All in all this is a huge success for a film that only cost $5M to produce. They’re already in the black. It’s just not as huge of a success as they’re used to. That’s down $22M in the opening frame from PA3 and down $10M or so from PA2, which makes it the weakest performer in the series since PA1 opened in limited theaters in 2009. READ MORE

[BD Review] Brad Weighs In On ‘Paranormal Activity 4′!

Paramount Pictures’ Paranormal Activity 4 hits theaters today, October 19. It’s directed by Catfish duo Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, whom also helmed Paranormal Activity 3. Unfortunately, this fourth entry has none of that film’s mojo. I unexpectedly loved the third entry, so my hopes were high for this new installment, so imagine my surprise when I sat in the theater aghast at how boring the overall film is (not to mention how flimsy the ending is). I Honestly Have No Idea Who The Mystery Person In This ‘Paranormal Activity 4′ Photo Is

Paramount Pictures’ latest Paranormal Activity 4 viral promotion has me scratching my head a bit. I mean I know the blond girl is Kathryn Newton’s character, but not the other. I’ve seen the movie and I still can’t tell you who it is. Someone from PA2? That’s possible because PA2 barely exists to me anymore. PA3 for lyyyyffee (I seriously do like PA3)! The pic comes from the twitter account of Jacob Degloshi. READ MORE

Latest ‘Paranormal Activity 4′ Clip Will Make You Go, “Yeah, Yeah, Yeah. I Get It.”

Paramount Pictures has supplied Yahoo! with a brand new “edited” clip from Paranormal Activity 4 that’s just a teensy bit annoying. It’s a rehash of footage from earlier clips, TV spots and trailers that focuses solely on the lead girl floating in mid-air. They did such an amazing job promoting its predecessors leaving much to the imagination, this time around it’s becoming an assault of imagery and clips. This new clip is sure to make you exclaim, “Alright, I get it.” READ MORE

[Interview] Producer Jason Blum Talks ‘Insidious 2′, ‘Paranormal Activity 5′, ‘Dark Skies’ And ‘The Purge’ At The Opening Of ‘Blumhouse Of Horrors’!

Last night I attended a preview of Jason Blum’s Los Angeles haunted attraction, “The Blumhouse Of Horrors”. While what I saw wasn’t 100% finished, it was certainly impressive. It’s not so much a maze as it is a building full of haunts, characters, magic and smoke. I took a guided tour, which is not a VIP thing, it’s how the attraction is meant to be experienced since your guides are pretty creepy as well. There’s a lot of cool stuff to see (and feel – I know BD alum Brian Collins even got zapped). There’s also a neat feature that had the claustrophobic in me absolutely reeling. If you live in LA, and are a fan of haunted houses, I certainly recommend it. READ MORE
