This really isn’t a bad film. Yes it’s poorly written, mediocrely acted, and cliche ridden, but for some reason it kept me entertained. I don’t know if this was the film itself, or the Netflix transfer, (most likely the latter) but it seemed very dark, to the point that it was sometimes hard to see what has happening. Aimee Teegarden was a step above her work in Scream 4 (what was with that excessively terrible fake scream?) and Dennis Quaid came off as a very phony villain. Overall entertaining while nothing special.
PS: I too was wondering where the hell that parade came from. Random.
As already stated, Beneath the Darkness is a mess. Its got what it takes to be good, but the elements (a psycho mortician, likeable teens, bits of the supernatural & some terrific atmosphere) just don’t stick…..at all. As for how the kids thwart the villain towards the end, let’s just say that Friday the 13th part 2 did it better. Great final line though; at least that was well done.
