The original Wrong Turn is one my favorite horror films, when a sequel was made I was interested and thought it was pretty damn good. Then we were given 3 and 4 which were extremely horrible. Now we are given a 4th sequel. While it is still pretty bad, it’s a slight improvement over 3 and 4. The death scenes are pretty twisted and gorey. The acting is so-so, some performances are way over the top. The characters for the most part are pretty unlikeable except for the lead girl (a cop at that). What made it a slight improvement was the setting, it didn’t save it alot but it did something. However, for a town celebrating a festival it was pretty dead. No pun intended. I don’t recommend it, but if you’re bored and have nothing to do and feel like watching a time wasting film, this could be it. Note: this is a sequel to the prequel (Wrong Turn 4), not a sequel to 3.
Horrendous. This comes from someone who actually enjoyed Part 4. Our trio of antagonists are no longer ominous or scary. They are basically cartoon characters. The incessant giggling… makes me want to go on my own little torture spree. There are no scares (jump or otherwise), no tension. Gore is so-so. Perhaps I liked part 4 due to its setting, which was mostly dark and somewhat believable… I understand it was truly filmed in an old loony bin during winter. This part V abomination is filmed on a shoddy small town USA mockup somewhere in the former soviet bloc. The actor’s accents are all over the place. Hill country accents should have been part of the plot, yet instead we have European actors doing their best generic American twang. Nothing against them, mind you. Watch this while highly buzzed and you may glean some sort of entertainment.
Its more an assemble of over-the-top kills masking as a movie, as mentioned in the review there is no sign of a music festival in town although earlier in the film its compared to coachella & woodstock, the set is awful, its like a stage show!! However i did have a fun time watching it, i actually grasped the cartoon type feel of the film and rolled with it, I found myself chuckling on numerous occasions – the unbelieveably good looking girl who fucks the fat cop for a backstage pass, this was funny because the girl was actually loving it more than the guy!! and the dick with the chain around his leg being chased by a lawn mower, all he’s got to do is sit on top of the goal posts behind him!!!
On a serious note i think Roxanne Mckee stood head and shoulders above the other actors in this film, not a difficult task but considering she had to put on an accent and keep a straight face (she had both her eyes stabbed out but still managed to walk along the windy road without losing her way at a place she’s never been before) i give her mad props. She’s totally gorgeous too so hopefully see her in something better soon
Not good. Not as bad as some of the straight to dvd films that come out. But its still a pretty lame movie. The main reason this film sucks is because of the set and makeup. The set looks like a cheap backlot. And the makeup is horrible. Some of the worst makeup in a horror film I have ever seen. It looks like children designed the hillbillies. Not to mention they dont eat hardly anyone. In this movie they kill people in crazy over the top ways for no reason. The acting is ok but the story is non sense. Its better than 3 and I like some aspects of it, The ending is one of the most twisted disturbing endings Ive seen in a long time. But the good ending doesn’t save the movie. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY, rent it if you want, BUT DONT BUY IT!
Before I state my GIGANTIC ISSUE WITH THIS FILM, I would like to briefly let you know where I stand with the first four. The first Wrong Turn is my favorite movie of all time. I didn’t understand the love affair that critics and common viewers alike felt for Wrong Turn 2, but I did like the movie. I thoroughly enjoyed number 3, and number 4 I liked even better. To sum up, I’d rank them the following way: 1, 4, 3, 2, 5.
Wrong Turn 5 was the only one that I didn’t like, or love (I LOVED THE FIRST ONE). My disdain for 5 is so strong that I don’t even know if I can say that the first one is my favorite movie of all time anymore, because I’d HATE to have my favorite movie ever associated with this train wreck.
I didn’t even have a problem with all of the gore, I couldn’t care less whether or not these people died, except for the sheriff, I thought she was cool. However, the implication of the repeated rape literally made me sick to my stomach. One of the reasons I liked the Wrong Turn franchise was because unlike other movies of its kind (The Hills Have Eyes, etc.) there was no rape, just killing. Although Bloodlines didn’t have rape visually, the implication is extremely heavy handed and I was hoping that they’d just run her over, not take her home to rape her over and over again. I feel like there will be a 6th installment in which Lita is pregnant with a mutated baby and maybe already had at least one. This movie changed the course of the series and made it something horrible. I’ve always hated rape more than anything and I avoid movies in which I know ahead of time that rape will occur. Again, no visual rape in Wrong Turn 5, or implied rape in any other installments of the franchise, but the extremely heavy handed implication of repeated rape that takes place after the movie ends ruined the whole thing for me, not that it was a masterpiece to begin with, but I found it tolerable up until they pick her up and you know what will follow.
I feel like after the first one, The Wrong Turn movies have just been getting worse, but I still like the series. This movie was okay, but I didn’t feel like it was a Wrong Turn sequel and it was pretty boring.
