It was recently announced that Open Road Films had acquired Michael Tiddes’ A Haunted House, co-written by and starring Marlon Wayans. This morning the official trailer hit and I was actually a bit impressed. While the first Scary Movie (a hilarious movie) was a direct spoof of Scream, the sequels trailed off into pop culture land (a place that I never want to visit). With A Haunted House, Wayans and co. appear to do a direct spoof of Paranormal Activity (while also referencing other Found Footage films like Devil Inside), which excites me a great bit. IMO, the best spoof comedies come when the writer makes jokes about observations he/she has about the subject, not by injecting a bunch of pop culture references into a non-existant plot. I guess you could say that I’m actually looking forward to this? READ MORE
