It’s May 4th, which means only one thing: Star Wars Day!
Okay, so maybe today isn’t as cool as last week’s Alien Day was for us horror fans, but we appreciate any excuse to turn an otherwise ordinary Wednesday into a day of celebration. Of course, this being a horror website and all, we won’t be going all out for Star Wars Day like some other sites, but we do have a fun little treat for you that combines the world of horror with the universe George Lucas first introduced us to way back on May 25th of 1977.
Few images from the Star Wars films are more iconic than the Stormtrooper masks, which have become an instantly recognizable symbol of the entire franchise. Though badass in design, the masks are quite bland when it comes to colors, making them the absolute perfect canvas for fans to have a little fun with. Customizing Stormtrooper masks has become a popular hobby in Star Wars fandom, particularly thanks to the recent release of blank vinyl masks, and no artist is impressing us more in that department than Charles Clary.
Clary, who in his own words makes “stuff and things, things and stuff,” recently embarked on a mission to turn Stormtrooper masks into our favorite horror icons, and he’s been documenting his unique brand of artistry over on his Instagram account: @CharlesClary. Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, and a host of other big screen villains have thus far been introduced into the Star Wars universe by Clary, and in honor of today’s holiday, we wanted to share his handiwork with you.
See if you can name all the horror icons depicted below!
