WORLD OF DEATH EP3 – “Trust” / “Misfortune”

Published

on

One of the great aspects of a film festival is the ability to discover fresh new talent.  Movies like Paranormal Activity and The Witch are prime examples of an overnight success story thanks to the movie’s inclusion in a prominent film festival.  I first heard of Jerry Pyle’s short film, “Trust” when it played at Fantasia Film Festival and Fantastic Fest, two of the more popular genre festivals in North America.  Short, sweet, and funny as hell “Trust” is the perfect way to kick off episode three of World of Death!

Our second short film from episode three is “Misfortune” directed by Neil Mackay.  Mackay is a Canadian filmmaker who’s short film stood out during the ABC’s of Death 2 “M” contest and I knew instantly that it needed to be a part of WOD.  Squib work can be a real pain on a low budget production – if you can afford them – but Mackay’s special FX work is top notch in “Misfortune”; some of the better gunplay I’ve seen from the independent scene.

Make sure to check out episode three right now to check out these great short films and tune in Thursday for episode 4 where we’ll be bringing you one of the funniest animated shorts I’ve ever seen as well as up-and-coming genre queen Gigi Saul Guerrero’s short Dead Crossing.

World of Death is the web series that fans of independent horror have been waiting for.  Featuring short horror films from all over the globe created by the largest variety of talent that a collection has ever been able to boast, WOD provides plenty of blood, guts, screams and laughs for all fans of the macabre.  And with episodes averaging around eight minutes in length, WOD is the perfect entertainment for a fan base constantly on the go.  Watch it anywhere, at any time, for FREE! New episodes premiere every Monday and Thursday at 7pm CST.

This Tempting Madness clip

A hospital stay grows more nerve-frazzling when memory loss distorts reality in our exclusive clip from This Tempting Madness, inspired by a true story.

The mind-bending psychological thriller will be released in select theaters and on demand on June 12 via Vertical.

Simone Ashley (“Bridgerton”) stars as Mia, who awakens from a coma, grievously injured, her memory fractured. As she puts the pieces of her past together, she starts to question her own actions and her perception of reality.

In This Tempting Madness, “Mia awakens from a coma grievously injured, her memory fractured. As she puts the pieces of her past together, she starts to question her own actions, and her perception of reality.”

Jennifer E. Montgomery makes her feature directorial debut from a script she co-wrote with director of photography Andrew Davis, inspired by Montgomery’s first-hand experience with tragedy involving her best friend.

“Months before the incident, there were signals that her world was unraveling,” says Montgomery. “I could feel the pressure building, though I didn’t know what form it would take. I never could have known what violence would come, and I certainly never imagined making a film about it.”

Austin Stowell (“NCIS: Origins”), Suraj Sharma (Happy Death Day 2U), Mojean Aria (Reminiscence), Amol Shah (“For All Mankind”), and Zenobia Shroff (“Ms. Marvel”) round out the cast.

Smoke Jumper Films and Mango Monster Productions produce in association with Catchlight Studios (HereticThe Blackening).

This Tempting Madness is rated R for “language, violence/bloody images, and brief sexuality.”
