Red Band ‘Alien: Covenant’ Trailer Delivers Instant Terror!

ALIEN COVENANT via FOX

It’s a Christmas miracle as Fox has given birth to the official trailer for Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant, the hotly anticipated sequel to Prometheus, which will eventually bridge directly into Alien.

The fanboy in me has taken over and I’ve lost all perspective on life. Covenant is now the most important thing in my world and will be my obsession until it’s released on May 19, 2017. The red band trailer premiere was nothing short of spectacular, delivering on all promises to bring the franchise back to the dark and terrifying Alien universe. Prometheus has instantly been covered in dust as the footage is immediate, taking no time to breathe and creating the same sort of emotional tension as Scott’s sci-fi horror classic from 1979. It also looks like it’s going to further all of the things we love, like the chestburster sequence, which now looks like it’s coming out of some dude’s back. The button at the end was the perfect scare, giving a huge nod to the Alien finale with Ripley. Holy. Shit.

Michael Fassbender returns as the android David, as well as Walter, while Katherine Waterston (Inherent Vice, Jobs, The Babysitters) heads the new crew with Demian Bichir and Danny McBride (“Eastbound and Down”), as well as Alex England (Gods of Egypt), Billy Crudup, Amy Seimetz (A Horrible Way to Die, “The Killing”), Jussie Smollett (“Empire”), Carmen Ejogo, and Callie Hernandez (Machete Kills). James Franco is also confirmed to be among them all.

Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

Alien: Covenant – here’s everything we know so far – takes off for Paradise on May 19, 2017.

Up next from Rampage director Brad Peyton is the sci-fi movie Atlas for Netflix, and Netflix has unleashed the brand new official trailer this morning. You can check it out below.

Jennifer Lopez stars in Atlas, which will likely be streamed for 100 billion minutes in its first week of release. Whatever that means. It’s coming exclusively to Netflix on May 24.

“The film follows Atlas, a woman fighting for humanity in a future where an AI soldier has determined the only way to end war is to end humanity. To outthink this rogue AI, Atlas must work with the one thing she fears most — another AI.”

The upcoming science fiction film’s cast also includes Simu Liu, Sterling K. Brown, Gregory James Cohan, Abraham Popoola, Lana Parrilla and Mark Strong.

Peyton said in a recent statement, “Having the chance to direct Jennifer Lopez in the title role of this movie is a dream come true, as I know she’ll bring the incredible strength, depth and authenticity we’ve all come to admire from her work.”

Leo Sardarian wrote the original script, with the latest draft by Aron Eli Coleite.
