New Dino Baryonyx Fully Revealed in Fiery ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ Image; Plot Details!

The official trailer arrives this Thursday!

We caught a brief glimpse of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom‘s Baryonyx in a trailer tease just yesterday, but EW got their hands on a full-on still image of the beast today!

As noted on the Jurassic World website, Baryonyx (which means “Heavy Claw”) is a 30-foot, 2-ton carnivore, one of the largest fish-eating dinosaurs.

Its crocodile-like head and dangerous claws make it a master hunter of rivers and lakes for Cretaceous-era sushi.”

Check out the terrifying new predator below!

The sequel — set several years after 2015’s billion-dollar smash Jurassic World — concerns a volcano on Isla Nublar that threatens the dinosaurs that had overrun the park at the end of the previous film,” EW notes. “Who has the best shot at preventing the prehistoric beasts from becoming extinct (again)? That would be Chris Pratt’s dino trainer Owen Grady and Bryce Dallas Howard’s former park manager Claire Dearing.”

In Fallen Kingdom

“With all of the wonder, adventure and thrills synonymous with one of the most popular and successful franchises in cinema history, this all-new motion-picture event sees the return of favorite characters and dinosaurs—along with new breeds more awe-inspiring and terrifying than ever before.”

J. A. Bayona (A Monster Calls) directed the new installment.

Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are returning for the sequel, which also stars Jeff Goldblum, along with Justice Smith, James Cromwell and Toby Jones. Colin Trevorrow, who directed Jurassic World, wrote the script for the sequel with Derek Connolly.

Producers Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley once again join executive producers Steven Spielberg and Trevorrow. Belén Atienza also produced.

Life finds a way on June 22, 2018.

I am SO excited. The Baryonyx was a planned attraction for Jurassic World. You have to wonder if it was bred without Claire’s knowledge and then left to its own devices. Either way, I am loving how dark and sinister all the footage looks.

I agree. Time for a tonal shift. Quit pandering to the little kids. We need a brutal, rated R JW.

        BRING ON THE DINO CRISIS!

Staring Bryce Dallas Howard as Regina and Chris Pratt as the dude who is eaten by a T-Rex right at the first cutscene

You have NO IDEA how much I would love to see Dino Crisis on the big screen. Make it like Alien with Dinosaurs.

It would be something of a dream, I mean, as long they don’t give it to Paul Anderson!

But my big screen adaptation wish dream still belongs to Parasite Eve, it would be so so good (or they could completely screw it up)

The tonal shift isn’t happening in this one. I saw some extra footage and there are 2 kids in it. Ugh. Kids ruin everything.

          • WindowsIsDead

They should be eaten! But I’m still happy and glad for the amount of animatronics in it, enough to be excited

Hurry up and get here, Thursday!!

  • pablitonizer

Fuck yeah!!!! Bring me the damn dinosaurs!!!!! Thursday hurry up!!!!

    Wasn’t expecting this volcano thing.

  • Why would they want to prevent them becoming extinct?

    • Adean

Yeah. I’m confused too. It’s hopefully not to save the park because they want to re-open it. And how the hell are they gonna save them from it? It will be cool to see the characters running around in a “Jurassic World” run amok with dinosaurs all over the place.

      • I’d love to see Dinosaurs loose in the city or even a Dinosaur apocalypse.

  • Necro

Cool! Very interested in seeing the new trailer.

If they wanted a crocodilian-looking dinosaur why pick the fish-eating Baryonyx when the similar and much larger Suchomimus was already on the official list of dinosaurs ? Supposedly it was in the Cretaceous Cruise section (albeit not shown physically in the films). I hope we get to finally see a glimpse of that.

    • Baryonyx is on the Jurassic World list as well. It was also in the original Hammond park.

      • JGuerzon

Exactly my point. As both Baryonyx and Suchomimus are on the official list of JP engineered dinosaurs, they could have picked Suchomimus. Hopefully we get to see more in the final product.

I am hoping JA Bayona and the screenwriting delivers and this does not become yet another generic Hollywood blockbuster.

Suchomimus is in one of the extended teasers and shown running from the volcano blast. Both are in it.

          • JGuerzon

Good call. That could be Suchomimus or another Baryonyx in the stampede but it’s difficult to tell.

  • Nia Snacks

I’m assuming there will be kids in this movie as well? Even though there shouldn’t be any kids in the situation they’ll figure something out.

  • Satanzilla

Tremble in fear, all you fish going to see this movie

  • Adam Paquette

I need a flux capacitor to get to see the trailer!!!

    • Adean

Did you see the other footage in that teaser they showed? Baryonyx looks pretty awesome!
