Andi Matichak Lands the Role of Young Lead in David Gordon Green’s ‘Halloween’

Jamie Lee Curtis is back as Laurie Strode in next year’s Halloween, which will take place after the original classic and disregard *all* of the sequels. Judy Greer has been cast to play Karen Strode, Laurie’s daughter, and we’ve got more casting news tonight.

Via Tracking Board, actress Andi Matichak (“Blue Bloods”) has landed the coveted role of the film’s young lead. “Matichak is believed to be playing Greer’s daughter and Curtis’ granddaughter, and it seems safe to assume she’ll be put in harm’s way upon crossing paths with Michael Myers,” notes the site.

In Gordon Green’s movie, being scored by John Carpenter…

“Laurie Strode comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.”

Carpenter is executive producing the new film with Malek Akkad producing for Trancas and Jason Blum producing for Blumhouse. Gordon Green and McBride will also executive produce under their Rough House Pictures banner.

Michael Myers returns to Haddonfield on October 19, 2018.

  • In before the “Why isn’t she played by Danielle Harris?” comments.

    • IWC-3PO

In before someone says “Danielle Harris is looking for a paycheck”, as if Jamie Lee Curtis is doing the movie for free.

      • dukeblues

Yep. We all gotta get paid. Nothing wrong with money so kudos to her.

  • I know he’s semi-supernatural and all, but how fucking OLD is Michael Myers in this movie? He was older than Jamie Lee in the first one, so if she’s 60 now, he’s what, 65?

I don’t know about you, but if a 65 year old man comes in my house with a knife, I’d just knock him down and walk away.

    • Logan

That’s one of the main reasons I’m worried about this. They no longer share a relation, he has no supernatural elements to his character, and now 40 years later he cares enough to track her down and kill her? This all sounds extremely suspect to me.

      • My impression is that Laurie is returning to Haddonfield. But even so, why would they bring Jamie Lee Curtis back if they are retconning Halloween II? If he’s still hunting the Strode family, then there’s absolutely no point in getting rid of the brother/sister thing. When Danny McBride said in an interview that Michael Myers was scarier before he had a motive, I thought they were going to give us a new story with new protagonists and not another “final battle” between Michael and Laurie.

I said this before…there’s no single reason on earth for JLC to return if she’s no longer his sister…

    • His age wouldn’t be a problem if Danny McBride didn’t make the dumb decision to turn Michael Myers into a normal human being, despite the fact that he was supernatural in the 1978 original. Now, we actually have to wonder about his age and how he even survived the first film.

      • The chicken man

I know many 60+ people that are very spry. And simple explanation for him surviving being shot? Loomis was an inexperienced shooter, and missed. You saw Michael reacting, but saw no bullets actually hitting him.

        • As for the age, I guess we’ll have to see. There are uncommon people like Kane Hodder who are over 60 and you can’t even tell. (Not suggesting Hodder, just using him as an example)

        • dukeblues

The dude in Dont Breath kicked some ass. I don’t mind an older Myers. He was badass in H6

    • Adam Clifton

      61. Since Dr Loomis said Michael was 21 in Halloween 2 which was set on the same night as the original (1978).

    • Cristal Swan

If Laurie can’t stop Michael this time… arthritis will.

  • Nicolas Caiveau

She’s cute. Don’t know her, but I like her casting.

  • MySelfDestruct

I’m surprised more story details haven’t leaked out yet since its ramping up to film. Maybe we will get more as filming begins.

  • Logan

Here’s hoping this doesn’t suck as much as I think it’s going to.

    • Fingers crossed that John Carpenter and Jason Blum steer this film away from becoming another Texas Chainsaw 3D.

      • lupe

        “Do your thang, grampa!”

    • Meisha’s Taint

      How dare you

  • Max_Nerdcore

And before anyone asks…Danielle Harris is too old for the role.

  • Khy

Laurie Strode has an adult granddaughter….

    Feel old yet?

  • IWC-3PO

She kind of looks like Hanna Hall, who played Judith Myers in RZ’s Halloween.

    • Brey Compton Arriaga

      Yes, u’re right!

    • Mr. Red Right Hand

      thought the same thing

  • Jay

JLC def got a HUGE payday for this like she did in H20. So many ways the movie could go. Pretty sure JLC will “re die” saving her daughter/granddaughter is my guess. Setting them up for future movies.

  • They didn’t cast Danielle as Jamie Lloyd because Halloween 4-6 have nothing to do with the new one.

  • Simon Allen
  • pablitonizer

I can totally picture a family reunion over xmas and Michael trying to enter the house as a home invasion film….they should rename it “The Strodes Xmas special” fuck this film so far!

Damn, Jamie Lee Curtis is still pretty foxy, even if she is a hundred years old.

  • Daucus Karota

Danny McBride: “We’re pretty much ignoring everything after the first movie. But also some things in the first movie, like the fact that it’s Halloween. So no Halloween, no Michael Myers. Just Laurie Strode, so we can call it, “Halloween”. And it’s about dread not gore, but mostly about comedy. Basically this is a Christmas movie. (But Santa isn’t in it, just the Easter Bunny).”

  • MrX13

I’ve actually enjoyed McBride’s and Green’s comedy movies and especially Vice Principals. They are good at comedy but let’s see how they do with horror. McBride did well in Aliens, not sure he’ll be in this movie but I am looking forward to this Halloween movie.

  • Alexis Collins

Ugh just let them be brother and sister again. Don’t ruin 40 years of history. Halloween H40
