The first trailer for Shane Black‘s The Predator now feels like a huge misdirect as it’s focused on telling us that the movie is about an alien, called to Earth by a child, looking to retrieve some sort of weapon. A new TV spot ran during the NBA Finals last night and revealed that a recent plot rumor may actually be true. It appears that the humans are going to be teaming up with a Predator in order to stop a 10-foot-tall mega-hybrid-Predator. This is weirdly similar to the introduction of the Indoraptor in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, in which the humans presumably team with a Velociraptor to stop the Indoraptor dino-hybrid. The Indoraptor and mega-Predator even look similar, as they’re both a sinister pitch black.

In the sequel, “From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. In theaters September 14, 2018, the film stars Jacob Tremblay, Olivia Munn, Keegan-Michael Key, Sterling K. Brown, Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, Edward James Olmos, Alfie Allen and Yvonne Strahovski. Jake Busey plays the son of Gary Busey’s Predator 2 character.
