We’ve Got the First ‘Tales from the Hood 2’ Images and Details! [Fantasia]
Set to have its World Premiere at next month’s Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal (on Friday the 13th), Bloody Disgusting has the first ever photos from Tales from the Hood 2, which feature The Thing and They Live actor Keith David‘s new, stoic take on the devilish Portifoy Simms, played with great comic flair by Clarence Williams III in the first film.
The festival also shares newly revealed details from the film that reunites executive producer Spike Lee and writers/directors/producers Rusty Cundieff and Darin Scott.
“Keith David stars as a contemporary Mr. Simms to tell bloodcurdling stories about lust, greed, pride, and politics through tales with demonic dolls, possessed psychics, vengeful vixens and historical ghosts. Mr. Simms’s haunting stories will make you laugh… while you scream.”
Bryan Batt also stars by demonstrating a plethora of facets as the phony medium.
Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) is staying busy here in 2024, directing not only the werewolf movie Big Bad but also an upcoming thriller titled Drop.
The project for Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes is being described as a “fast-paced thriller,” and Deadline reports today that Violett Beane (Truth or Dare) has joined the cast.
Newcomer Jacob Robinson has also signed on to star in the mysterious thriller. Previously announced, Meghann Fahy (“White Lotus”) will be leading the cast.
Landon recently teased on Twitter, “This is my love letter to DePalma.”
Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach wrote the script.
Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller and Cameron Fuller — “who brought the script in to Platinum Dunes” — are producing the upcoming Drop. Sam Lerner is an executive producer.
THR notes, “The film is a Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse production for Universal.”
