BioShock Makes It Into The Smithsonian American Art Museum

The Smithsonian American Art Museum will soon be opening “The Art of Video Games” exhibit that will be on display in Washington, D.C., March 16, 2012 through September 30, 2012. You will be able to see BioShock on display as well as a laundry list of other games. The exhibition curator, Chris Melissinos had a list of 240 games that fans actually widdled down to 80. I looked for games that ran the gamut of art, social commentary, storytelling and artistic license, and BioShock combined these elements in new ways,” said Melissinos.

“The thought of seeing BioShock on display next to Georgia O’Keeffe and Thomas Hart Benton is, well, humbling,” said Ken Levine, president and creative director of Irrational Games. “The fact that gamers put us there makes it all the better.” Head past the break to see the full list of games that will be on display, and if they are up to snuff. 1943: The Battle of Midway
