Every once in a while something comes along that just has to be shared, and this is one of those times. It looks like GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain is a fan of the Pokemon: The Movie 2000 theme song, or at least he likes it enough to quote its lyrics not once, but four times. At a primary debate in Iowa last Thursday the Republican presidential candidate from Georgia quoted a poet who once said “Life can be a challenge, life can seem impossible, but it’s never easy when there’s so much on the line” Not a bad line, it works. The only issue is this wasn’t uttered by a poet, instead these are lyrics from “The Power of One”, also known as the theme song for the Pokemon 2000 flick.
If this was the only time Cain had done this it would’ve been easy to write off as a mistake or a harmless reference to what is easily the best Pokemon movie ever, but thankfully that’s not the case. On what looks like Cain’s official website, he uses the lyrics again, saying they’re from the closing song to the 2000 Olympics, then again in his campaign announcement in May, and a fourth time at the Republican Leadership Conference a month later. This explains why when Cain was asked about terrorists, his response was “gotta catch ’em all!” News via GamePro
