One Final Theatrical Screening on ‘Trick ‘r Treat’ in New York

Published

New York readers get our your credit cards because you have one final chance to see Michael Dougherty’s Trick ‘r Treat in a theater before it’s absorbed into your Blu-ray/DVD collection (David Cronenberg style) forever. The screening will take place this Wednesday, October 21, at the Lincoln Center Walter Reade Theater (165 W 65st, NY, NY). Get your tickets to the 8:30 showing by clicking here. More details below.
Warm-up for Halloween with the New York theatrical premiere of Michael Dougherty’s grab bag of All Hallows goodies. His anthology of masterfully interwoven fright tales features a couple who make the fatal mistake of defying Halloween tradition, a school principal (Dylan Baker) with a nasty secret, teenagers who dare to confront an urban legend involving the death of a busload of kids, a group of girls (including True Blood’s Anna Paquin) who are stalked by a mysterious vampire, and a recluse (Brian Cox) haunted by a pint-sized trick-or-treater with a creepy sack head. Vampires, werewolves, zombies, serial killers, and other creatures of the night are all on parade. Post-screening Q&A with writer/director Michael Dougherty. Happy Halloween!

When best friends Glen (Stephen Dorff) and Terry (Louis Tripp) stumble across a mysterious crystalline rock in Glen’s backyard, they quickly dig up the newly sodden lawn searching for more precious stones. Instead, they unearth The Gate — an underground chamber of terrifying demonic evil. The teenagers soon understand what evil they’ve released as they are overcome with an assortment of horrific experiences. With fiendish followers invading suburbia, it’s now up to the kids to discover the secret that can lock The Gate forever . . . if it’s not too late.

If you’ve never seen The Gate, it’s now streaming on Prime Video and Tubi.
