Cinderella Goes Full Giallo in Trailer for ‘The Princess Murders’ Series

Some of the most iconic figures from Disney animation have much darker histories than the movies would lead you to believe. In the Brothers Grimm version of Snow White, for example, the titular princess is only 14 years old and, despite the evil Queen’s best efforts, she fails to kill Snow White. Instead, the evil Queen is punished by being forced to wear burning-hot iron slippers and dance until she died. We think Disney will keep that version of the story locked in the vault for quite some time.

In the new Image Comics series The Princess Murders, it looks like we’ll be getting the best of both worlds, as the comic will embrace some of the more lighthearted aesthetics of classic animated movies, while also unleashing a murderous serial killer on beloved characters. A new trailer for the upcoming series has been released that teases the unique blend of horror and camp, which you can see below.

The Princess Murders #1 hits shelves on December 9. You can see variant covers at the bottom of the page that pay homage to Army of Darkness, giallo movie posters, and Disney classics.

Bestselling creators Tony Fleecs (Stray Dogs, Feral) and Tim Seeley (Revival, Hack/Slash) revealed a record-scratching homage to classic fairytale animated films with the premiere of a special musical video trailer for the upcoming The Princess Murders. In the series, a princess has been murdered and it’s up to her wicked stepsister and fairy Godmother to catch the killer. A Snow White Slasher! Sleeping Beauty Giallo! The Princess Murders combines the self-aware cheek of films like Enchanted and the Barbie movie and pushes them into the magical realm of campy horror.

The Princess Murders has all the makings to be one of the most buzzed-about new series to wrap up 2026 and lead fans into 2027 on a high note. Here Fleecs leverages similar viral marketing potential to his previous sales hits Stray Dogs and Feral yet again with a series rife with opportunity for Easter eggs, homage variants, character cameos, and innuendo. Seeley adds his talent for slasher horror and character development and the resulting alchemy will provide fans of D’orc, I Hate Fairyland, Beneath The Trees Where Nobody Sees, Chew, Dexter, Tucker & Dale vs. Evil, Shaun of the Dead, and What We Do in the Shadows with the perfect new read.
