Summit Entertainment continues to get behind the horror genre as they’re moving on from werewolves and vampires to tackle a movie riddles with witches. Deadline reports that Summit made a pre-emptive mid-six figures acquisition of The Last Witch Hunter, a Cory Goodman (Priest, The Brood) pitch that has franchise potential, and the attachment of Wanted, Night Watch director Timur Bekmambetov. The protagonist is one of the last remaining witch hunters, a breed that keeps the population of witches and warlocks in check. They are about to repopulate in a major way unless he can stop them. Bekmambetov is making a deal to produce and be attached as director. Adam Goldworm is exec producer.
