Big Roars Back on the Big Screen, ‘Godzilla’ Locked

Bloody Disgusting broke the news back in August(!) that Legendary Pictures was working on bringing the infamous Godzilla (#2 on our 21 most kickass giant monsters list) back to the big screen. Today it was announced that Legendary officially obtained rights to the iconic monster character from Japan’s Toho Company who will release the remake in Japan, while Warner Bros. is aiming at a 2012 release (with early 3-D rumors circulating). 55 years and 28 movies later… WOW. In the original 1954 movie, Gojira, American nuclear weapons testing results in the creation of a seemingly unstoppable, dinosaur-like beast.
