While you used to have to pay to get into the super cheesy “ice cream social”, this party will be 100% free to anyone who wants to get down and do the “wolf”. The invite writes: “In anticipation for the return of Creation Entertainment’s venerated Weekend of Horrors presented by Dark Sky Films to Los Angeles, Screamfest LA and Creation invite you to join us for Screamfest LA’s Official Weekend of Horrors Kick-Off Party, to be held Wednesday, May 19 at 8pm at Kung Pao Kitty (6445 Hollywood Blvd. at Wilcox Avenue in the heart of Hollywood, CA).” RSVP here and get the full details below.
Like the previously well-attended mixers Screamfest LA has thrown at Kung Pao (which have allowed fear filmmakers and fans alike the chance to network over cocktails and Asian cuisine), the Screamfest LA Official Weekend of Horrors Kick-Off Party will be horror-industry heavy, with fright flicks screening on the flat-screens, the Kitty staff serving up some special horrific concoctions specific to the event, photo opportunities and NO COVER CHARGE.
Guests attending the party who register their e-mail address at the door for Screamfest LA’s running in the Pepsi Refresh Project will receive a RAFFLE TICKET for a chance to win FREE PASSES ($138.00 value) to Creation’s Weekend of Horrors, running May 21-23 at the Marriot LAX (5855 West Century Blvd., LA, CA).
Guests at Weekend of Horrors are set to include Dario Argento, Robert Englund, Tony Todd and many more. In addition to the amazing celebrity guests, Weekend of Horrors offers special events such as: Photo Ops, Autographs, 100 Years of Monster Movies’ Art Ghoullery, Grindhouse’s Frightful Film Room, Zombie Walk, Shock-N-Roll Spooktacular & Coffin Case’s Xtreme Fashion Show, Creepy Costume Contest, Tattoo Savage Magazine’s Tattoo Contest, Previews, Vendors, Auctions and more. For up-to-date information visit: www.weekendofhorrors.net .
To vote for the Screamfest LA Film Festival (which runs October 8th through the 17th) in the Pepsi Refresh Project – in effect, a $250,000 grant to assist aspiring horror filmmakers – simply email Screamfest LA at firstname.lastname@example.org and place your name in the subject line, OR vote for us online at http://www.refresheverything.com/screamfestla. Polls are now open and you can vote once a day, so cast your ballot to positively impact the career of horror filmmakers. Voters will receive a chance to win a pair of FREE PASSES ($150.00 value) to Screamfest LA’s Opening Night Gala Party in Hollywood, to take place 10/8/10.
Details of Screamfest LA’s Official Weekend of Horrors Kick-Off Party can be found at www.screamfestla.com/mixer.php, and again, there’s NO COVER so come down to Kung Pao on Wednesday, May 19th and network with fellow genre filmmakers and horror fans alike. We’ll see you there!
