Rumor: Thief 4 Multiplayer Details Leak Out

Published

on

I loved the crap out of Thief: Deadly Shadows, especially the terrifying Shalebridge Cradle level where you had to get around a long abandoned orphanage-turned-insane asylum, brimming with these creepy creatures called Puppets. Thief 4 has been in developement for several years now, but since it’s official unveiling in 2009, the game’s been unusually silent [insert silent thief joke here].

Thanks to the Internet however, we might have some new information on the game. According to some info gleaned from various LinkenIn profiles, Thief 4 will use the popular Unreal Engine 3, and include some sort of online mode. Head past the jump for more details. Among the profiles are an animator, programmer, and level designer whose profiles say they’re working on Thief 4 on the Unreal Engine.

Add to that an online programmer whose profile mentions their involvement in the “networking, gameplay, debugging, online and offline tools of Thief 4” and another that says pretty much the same thing, only for an unannounced project that may or may not be Thief 4.

What do you think? Are you looking forward to Thief 4, and more importantly, what do you think of a Thief game with multiplayer?

Legendary Grimdark ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Artist John Blanche Has Passed Away at 78

In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).

Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.

While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.

The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.

Below is one of my favorite pieces by Blanche, his highly influential depiction of Warhammer 40k’s God-Emperor of Mankind on his Golden Throne.

We send our deepest condolences to John Blanche’s family, friends, and fans.
