BD reader ‘Mike’ tipped us off to an interview over at the Chicago Tribune with Chris Mintz-Plasse, the nerdy star who will portray “Evil Ed” in DreamWorks’ forthcoming Fright Night redo being helmed by Craig Gillespie. Having never seen the movie before being cast, he reveals that the studio is attempting to keep it similar to the original — and R-rated! “It’s totally a cheesy, campy 80’s movie,” said Mintz-Plasse during an appearance at Enclave on Friday, “and I loved it. They’re trying to keep (the remake) very similar but give a different take on the cast. It’ll be in 3D, so it’s a little more Hollywood. And they’re keeping it rated R, which is good.” Colin Farrell, Anton Yelchin, Toni Collette, David Tennant, and Imogen Poots also star in the flick about a teenager who discovers that his neighbors are vampires.
