CBS Films Acquiring Rights and Screenplay to ‘The Keep’

Four years ago, to this day, we reported that Ehren Kruger was adapting Jennifer Egan’s spooky 2006 best-seller The Keep. In fact, back in 2008 Rogue Pictures acquired the theatrical rights. With the recent addition of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo director Niels Arden Oplev, CBS Films will now give the adaptation a go as they’ve closed a deal for rights to Egan’s book, and are in final negotiations to acquire the adapted screenplay written by The Ring and The Skeleton Key scribe Ehren Kruger. At least the time hasn’t been wasted. Described by one observer as The Ring meets Inception (yawn), Keep is a story within a story about two cousins with a shared secret who reunite to renovate a legendary haunted medieval castle that turns dreams and nightmares into reality. Good luck this time around…
