We knew it was coming, but things are so much better when they’re official. Now, Crysis 3 is official, and judging from the handful of screenshots, box art, and snippets of info EA’s leaked out, the game sounds like more Crysis. That’s definitely a good thing. Usually a game is announced via a debut trailer, or something along those lines, but this time around EA’s taken the less trodden path by tossing out a few screenshots, a look at the game’s box art, and some pre-order incentives. The game isn’t due out for a year, but if you really want to make sure you get your copy, you can pre-order yours right now. Head past the break for more info on the game’s setting, and what you’ll get if you pre-order it.
Crysis 3 takes place in 2047, over two decades after the events in the previous game. New York has since been quarantined in the Cell Corporation’s Liberty Dome to protect the rest of the world from the Ceph threat. Naturally, the Cell Corporation follows in the footsteps of Umbrella, Armacham, and pretty much every other video game corporation by having ulterior motives. This time it’s all about world domination. The Liberty Dome is divided into seven areas known as the Seven Wonders. You’ll be traversing and undoubtedly kicking tons of alien ass in your fancy new Nanosuit. You’ll also have an exciting new weapon, a composite bow, that will act as your primary weapon in the game.
Here are the pre-order incentives, taken from EA:
Stalker Pack – Includes the base game, all Hunter Edition content and the following early multiplayer unlocks: For players who like to stalk their prey from the shadows, the Stalker Pack provides early multiplayer access to the deadly semi-auto Jackal shotgun. This powerful, close-range shotgun comes with a unique silencer attachment, custom weapon skin, and two exclusive themed in-game dog tags.
Overkill Pack – Includes the base game, all Hunter Edition content and the following early multiplayer unlocks: The Overkill Pack features early multiplayer access to the Typhoon assault weapon and skin. Spewing 500 rounds a second, the Typhoon gives players the ability to go guns blazing to take back the Liberty Dome. Also included are two exclusive Overkill themed in-game dog tags.
Predator Pack – Includes the base game, all the Hunter Edition content and the following early multiplayer unlocks: The Predator Pack delivers early multiplayer access to the Feline submachine gun and exclusive camo. With an extremely fast rate of fire and a 60-round magazine, the Feline is highly effective and deadly at short range.
Crysis 3 releases in spring 2013 for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
