Summit Gives ‘The Darkest Hour’ Christmas Release

Summit Entertainment is hoping to rope in the holiday moviegoers as they’ve bumped the release of Chris Gorak’s The Darkest Hour four months.

Originally scheduled for release in August, the Olivia Thirlby, Emile Hirsch, Rachael Taylor, Joel Kinnaman, and Max Minghella alien invasion thriller now arrives in theaters December 23, 2011.

The pic is described as a 28 Days-like thriller that’s set in Moscow and follows a group of Americans traveling in the city when an alien invasion occurs.
