There comes a time when every comedy actor decides to break free from being typecast, and attempts to show they are “bigger” than the one character they’ve been playing for years.
While Michael Cera has dabbled in drama, the “Arrested Development”/Scott Pilgrim star is leaving planet geekdom form what sounds to be a dark, dark thriller.
Cera will topline the indie thriller Magic, Magic, a career left turn for the comedic thesp and his first project since Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.
“The pic revolves around a girl vacationing with her friends in a remote area of Chile who slowly starts losing her mental faculties. She tries to get her friends’ attention, but they ignore her until it’s too late.”
Sebastian Silva will write and direct with Mike White and Christine Vachom producing. The search is still underway for the female lead and until that person is found a production start date has yet to be set.
