THE BLEEDING HOUSE – New Video Group

Meet the Smiths–a family full of secrets who keep to themselves on a back road outside a small Midwestern town. In this visceral, tightly wound horror/thriller, their lives are shaken when a sweet-talking Texan arrives on their doorstep on a mission for retribution. Will he succeed in his goal to bleed them of their sins, or will the family’s haunted past prove to be even more deadly than he bargained for?

MICAH SAYS: A slow burning psychological horror flick that garnering some solid reviews since bursting onto the scene during Tribeca. It’s got my attention.

BY THE DEVIL’S HAND: THE 666 KILLER – World Wide Multi Media

25 years ago the mysterious 666 Killer left a trail of corpses. When the Killer’s thirst for blood has been renewed, only the unsuspecting Jamie Anderson (Susana Gibb) stands in his way. “”By the Devil’s Hands”” explores the dark troubled world of the infamous 666 Killer and the last hypnotic hours of his victims as he continues his campaign of carnage! 6 days…6 victims…6 ways to DIE!

COLD FISH – The Collective, Bloody Disgusting Selects

When Shamoto’s teenage daughter was caught stealing, a generous middle-aged man helps to resolve the situation. The man and his wife offer to have Shamoto’s daughter work at their fish store. Shamoto soon discovers the horrific truth of the seemingly perfect couple…who force him to get his hands dirty in their brutal business. Inspired by true events, Cold Fish is a bloodcurdling suspense drama that unveils the underlying insanity of an ordinary man.

MICAH SAYS: Another amazingly gory and brutal film from our Asian friends who seem to be dominating the horror market this year (U.S. release dates) with I Saw the Devil, Dream Home and now Cold Fish. More please.

DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK (Remastered Special Edition) – Warner Brothers Shop

“It’s back! The classic TV MOW that continues to cast a spell almost 40 years after it was first broadcast, evident by an upcoming remake by Guillermo Del Toro. Sally (Kim Darby) and Alex Farnham’s (Jim Hutton) marriage has a sinister wedge driven through it, when her occult “imaginings” threaten to derail his career after they inherit Sally’s grandmother’s house.” Also starring William Demarest.

MICAH SAYS: Should be considered no surprise with the remake opening in theaters at the end of the week. If you haven’t seen this, I recommend it and personally think it’s aged pretty well. The little demon things are still frightening.

ERNEST SCARED STUPID (Blu-Ray) – Mill Creek Entertainment

When Ernest looks to help some children with their Halloween haunted house, he ends up accidentally unleashing an evil troll that intends to bring about the end of the World. While having to deal with his youthful friends being transformed into wooden dolls by the troll, our hero Ernest looks to find a way to stop it and return his friends to normal. This will be one Halloween that Ernest and his pals will never forget!

THE EVES – Osiris Entertainment

A group of students head to the beach for an unforgettable spring break vacation. However, complications arise when their car overheats and they find themselves stranded at a secluded hunting lodge nestled in the middle of a desolate ranch. After several of the group’s members disappear, the others are forced to flee, all the while being pursued by a shadowy adversary. However, is this haunting figure that stalks them from the shadows actually after them or only some of them?

FOLLOWED HOME – Vanguard Cinema

Four friends witness a brutal murder during a weekend retreat into the mountains, only to become the killer’s next intended victims after fleeing back to their homes in the city. Realizing that the maniac isn’t willing to risk allowing any witnesses to survive, the terrified quartet wages an intense struggle for survival.

HOUSE OF FALLEN – Phase 4 Films

The Watchers, a group of fallen angels, walk amongst the earth disguised as humans, torturing their vessels. In the hunt for prophetic truth, three strangers are put on trial for their past sins, and are forced to fight for survival in the face of an ancient evil. But in the war between heaven and hell, how do you kill what is already dead?

PEEPING BLOG – Creepersin Films

The Peeper has a “how to” website on peeping and stalking called Peeping Blog. On this site he gives adivce and helpful hints on those who want to stalk people. Tonight though, he has a new camera and will document his peeping of his new vicitm. When an unexpected guest shows up at his victims home, he is trapped inside. He must decide if he wants to get caught, make a run for it, or do the unthinkable and take his stalking to the next level of murder.

SUPER HYBRID (DVD / Blu-Ray) – Anchor Bay

Late one night, a mysterious car is brought into the Chicago police impound garage after a deadly traffic accident. The garage’s female mechanic, Tilda, and her young, hip fellow mechanics soon discover the car has a mind of its own: it morphs into different cars to confuse them and instead of needing an engine to run, it breathes. It’s a killing machine that is capable of outrunning and outwitting humans. In a high-octane fight to the death, it’s our group of determined humans versus the car in this supernatural action-adventure in the vein of Stephen King’s Christine and Transformers.

MICAH SAYS: Not enough killer car films out there. Last year I did reviews of every killer car movie I could get my hands on, and sadly there weren’t’ many (Christine, Trucks, Maximum Overdrive, The Car, Dead End, The Cars That Ate Paris, The Wraith, Black Cadillac, Highwaymen, Duel, Joy Ride, and Killdozer). I will be adding this one to my collection, if just for completion purposes.

TROLLHUNTER (DVD / Blu-Ray) – Magnolia Home Entertainment

The government says there’s nothing to worry about it’s just a problem with bears making trouble in the mountains and forests of Norway. But local hunters don’t believe it and neither do a trio of college students who want to find out the truth. Armed with a video camera, they trail a mysterious poacher, who wants nothing to do with them. However, their persistence lands them straight in the path of the objects of his pursuits: trolls. They soon find themselves documenting every move of this grizzled, unlikely hero the trollhunter risking their lives to uncover the secrets of creatures only thought to exist in fairy tales.

MICAH SAYS: Every bit as good as advertised. It’s the Pick of the Week!

TUCKER AND DALE VS EVIL (VOD ONLY) – Magnolia Home Entertaintment

In the vein of Shaun of the Dead, Tucker & Dale is a wild, wonky tale of two hillbilly buddies trying to survive their vacation in the woods when they are mistaken for killers by a gang of college kids. Our heroes valiantly save one of the college girls from drowning but are accused of wrongdoing. The chase ensues, not treating the students too well, leaving us with a gory but hilarious tale of two hillbillies and their hearts of gold.

MICAH SAYS: Available for VOD on Friday, August 26th, one month before a limited theatrical release and 3 full months before DVD. All signs point to a cult-classic in the making. Can the movie live up to the hype?
