TIFF ’11: ‘The Awakening’ Wakes Up With US Distribution, Cash In Its Pocket
Nick Murphy’s supernatural thriller The Awakening has just closed a major sale at the Toronto International Film Festival. Studiocanal sold the US distribution rights for the Rebecca Hall starring film to Cohen Media Group for a hefty sum.
Per Variety, “Dominic West and Imelda Staunton also star in the pic, which is set in 1921 and sees Hall play a woman aiming to expose all séances as shams. She is soon forced to confront her skepticism in a terrifying way at a boys’ boarding school.
After The Town I’m a huge fan of Hall and this sounds like it could be interesting.
