This coming Saturday, May 5th, will be the eleventh annual Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) world wide. What exactly is Free Comic Book Day? All of the major comic book publishers release brand new books, specifically for FCBD. There’s absolutely no catch. The comics range from horror stories, to tales of your favorite superheroes, to sci-fi adventures. If you’ve ever thought about diving into the wonderful world of comics, this is your chance. The books provide perfect jumping on points to currently running series, and are written and illustrated by some of the best in the comics today. On top of the of free swag, most shops also have big sales on regular comics. Below you can check out the full list of free comics that will be available this Saturday, the official press release, and a promo video. Google your local comic book shop and make sure to get there early, the lines tend to get crazy. It’s free, FREE, so you have no excuse!

A few notable books you’ll want to make sure you pick up:

Dinosaurs Versus Aliens: Written by comic book legend, Grant Morrison, this is sure to be as bizarre as can be. It’s aliens fighting intelligent dinosaurs, how could it not be awesome?

The Avengers Age Of Ultron #0.1: With all the hype surrounding the Avengers movie, there’s no doubt it’ll attract a whole bunch of new readers, and this is a great place to start.

Lady Death The Beginning: A big 40-pager to introduce you into the mysterious world of Lady Death.

Mouse Guard: Labyrinth & Other Stories: A huge 48-page hardcover collection of stories by some of the best writers in the biz. This is extremely limited.

Overstreet Comic Book Marketplace:The Greatest Horror Comics of All Time: This is not so much a comic as it is an analysis/collection of essays about horror comics and why we love them so much.

Buffy and The Guild: Buffy fans should already be reading the comics, but if you’re not this is a wonderful place to jump on board

There are plenty other great books for you to lay your filthy hands on, so don’t limit yourself. Seriously, grab as many as you can, share them with your friends and family and spread the good word. It’s not every day that you get a bunch of new stuff for free.
