It looks like even a lukewarm reception hasn’t stopped Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City’s hordes of undead from infecting the Japanese audience, as the game has managed to sell 252,525 copies on the PS3 and 16,285 on the Xbox 360, which translates to over 80% of its shipment. It even managed to outsell the far superior Resident Evil: Revelations, that managed to shift 158,012 copies–an impressive number itself–during its first week on sale. Operation Raccoon City also managed to claim the number two spot on the UK charts after its first week, beating out Mass Effect 3 and Modern Warfare 3. That’s good news for fans, assuming it’s able to keep the momentum going for awhile. It’s not a great game, but it’s not terrible either. I know that’s really not a glowing recommendation, the best thing I can say about it is it’s good fun when you play it with a few friends. Just don’t play it alone. You deserve better than that.
