‘Woman’ Producer Tackles Alcoholic’s ‘Black Butterflies’

Bloody Disgusting got first word that Avenet Images is starting production this summer on its latest horror film, Black Butterflies.

Written and directed by Brian Avenet-Bradley (Dark Remains), produced by Laurence Avenet-Bradley and executive produced by Andrew van den Houten (Jack Ketchum’s The Girl Next Door, The Woman), The film focuses on Allex, a grieving alcoholic who finds his life turned into a nightmare when a Stranger decides to “help” him in very unorthodox ways.

The lead will be played by Gary Cairns (Mad World, Hero Wanted), with the Stranger by Brad Dourif (One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Child’s Play). Additional cast includes Nick Nicotera (American Pie: Beta House, MTV’s “Wild ‘N Out”), Sienna Farall (“True Blood”) and Jennifer Blanc (The Victim, The Divide).

‘Black Butterflies’ is totally fresh and unique. It carries a lot more weight and purpose than so many genre films getting made these days. I’m thrilled to be working with such edgy filmmakers like Brian and Laurence Avenet-Bradley,” said executive producer Andrew van den Houten.
