When Will We See ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D’ Trailer and Poster?!

We received a rash of e-mails and tweets from you guys after we reported Lionsgate’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D had been rated “R” by the MPAA for “strong, grisly violence and language throughout.” We checked in with sources close to the film and can reveal that the delay in getting an “R” was that the film has received an “NC-17” the first few times it had been submitted!

In addition, we can confirm that both the poster and trailer will be coming next month! I can hear that chainsaw revving already!

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D, in theaters January 4, 2013, is being directed by John Luessenhop from a screenplay by Adam Marcus, Debra Sullivan and Kirsten Elms. Dan Yeager, John Dugan, Bill Moseley, Alexandra Daddario, Sue Rock, Tania Raymonde, Scott Eastwood, Gunnar Hansen, Tobe Hooper, Paul Rae, Keram Malicki-Sánchez, Ritchie Montgomery, Trey Songz, Marilyn Burns, Shaun Sipos, Thom Barry and Richard Riehle star.

The seventh incarnation is a direct sequel to Tobe Hooper’s classic 1974 film that follows the lead character, Heather, who along with her friends, travel to Texas in order to collect an inheritance. The spin? What would you do if you found out your cousin was Leatherface, and he was now YOURS?

i’m looking forward to this. i hope it’s good!

  • If they don’t pull a Platinum Dunes remake, this can actually be pretty decent. With the brutality of the subject matter (and really not too much character development is involved), this is like shooting fish in a barrel. We’ll see when the reviews start appearing and the advertisements.

Actually looking forward to this one. Platinum Dunes kinda screwed up their remakes, hopefully this one’s gonna get nasty and gritty.

I’ve been looking forward to this since it was announced, although I really liked the Platinum Dunes films, I’m glad it’s a sequel to the originals. I remember reading the lengthy spoiler filled plot synopsis and thinking it sounded really quirky like Hooper’s TCSM2.

  • I’m In love with PD versions, Im excited for this!

I don’t get the hatred for the TCM remake and TCM The Beginning. TCM remake was brutal. The 2nd stood on it’s own for sure. Can’t wait for this.

Nice to read love for those from other people… I thought they were amazing! Nothing beats the original but they were better than most of the sequels that followed, especially ‘Next Generation’ haha all were good in their own way though. Can’t wait to hear that first rev of the ol’ saw!!

Same here. Although I didn’t care for certain things, both movies were far more entertaining than anything that had been done in the franchise for nearly 20 years.

Glad to see them getting back to TCM’s roots with the new film. I have high hopes for it.

  • I can’t wait for this — !!!
