If Alice in Wonderland weren’t one of the most atrocious films I have ever seen, I’d probably be excited to see Tim Burton get behind the camera for his own version of the Hunchback of Notre Dame. And in all honesty, could he pick anything more obvious? I’d just wish he’d do something original again…
What makes this interesting is that Josh Brolin (Jonah Hex) is developing the “Hunchback of Notre Dame” project at Warner Bros., with the thesp starring and producing through his Brolin Productions shingle. The scripting team of Kieran and Michele Mulroney are on board to pen the screenplay, based on an idea developed by Brolin.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, other than being based on the Victor Hugo’s novel “Notre Dame de Paris” about Quasimodo, the deformed bell-ringer of Notre Dame, and the beautiful gypsy Esmeralda.
