Paramount Pictures is pulling no punches in promoting J.J. Abrams’ Super 8. There’s been a billion clips, tons of viral clip teases on the official website, and TV spots running 24/7 (at least on the channels I’m watching). But none have been as telling as the Japanese poster, which premiered exclusively on First Showing.
I guess you could say, “they’re herrreeeeee….”
In an obvious homage to producer Steven Spielberg’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind, the poster features our kid heroes and the arrival of potential “visitors”. Still, it’s unclear what the creature (or creatures) are.
In theaters June 10, “In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth – something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined.“
