A new take on Stephen King‘s Carrie is coming to Prime Video, arriving on the streaming platform in just a few weeks on October 7. The series premiered episodes at both the Toronto International Film Festival and at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas, and today brings an all-new poster, in which Carrie White has taken to the skies, seemingly in a telekinetic fury.

Prime Video describes the new series, “Misfit high‑schooler Carrie White (Summer H. Howell) has spent her life hidden away inside the walls of her home with her fiercely protective mother, Margaret (Samantha Sloyan). After her father’s sudden, untimely death thrusts her into the unforgiving ecosystem of public high school, Carrie is forced to navigate a viral bullying scandal that tears through her community, the relentless pressure and casual cruelty of the social‑media age, and the awakening of mysterious telekinetic powers that rise alongside her adolescence.”
Also starring in Carrie are Siena Agudong, Alison Thornton, Joel Oulette, Josie Totah, Arthur Conti, Thalia Dudek, Amber Midthunder, and Matthew Lillard.
With any new reboot or remake, there’s going to be questions about how faithful the adaptation will be and what new perspectives a filmmaker will lean into, but for anyone concerned about whether Mike Flanagan will fully unleash Carrie’s wrath, this poster confirms just how powerful Carrie will become. Still, Flanagan confirmed that the new series will explore things that the previous adaptations of the material have failed to fully dive into.
“The story of Carrie alone has been told now several times,” the filmmaker shared with Entertainment Weekly earlier this month. “The thing that’s never been delved into is Carrie’s a part of this larger community of women and she never gets to know that. We have a book that fits perfectly into a 90-minute format. We’re talking about a series. Expansion’s essential. So if that’s the mission, how can we earn it? And that was the crux of it. Let’s understand that this is the story about gifted women. Let’s understand that this is a story about young women, in particular, learning their place in the world and coming into their power — and all the pitfalls that come with that.”
Carrie premieres on Prime Video on October 7.
