You’ll Be Able To Import Your Character Into ‘Dead Island: Riptide’ When It Releases Next Year

DeadIslandRiptide_5

Publisher Deep Silver has finally unveiled Dead Island: Riptide after their little tease back in June. Much of it is still under wraps, but it looks like fans of the original game will have plenty to love here, as much like its predecessor, Riptide will take place on an island–near the location the first game was set in–and will let you bring over your character(s) from Dead Island into the spin-off. Deep Silver is adamant this is not a sequel, which could mean the mysterious Dead World trademark they filed last November could be the “real” sequel. Either way, we’re getting more Dead Island next year when the game ships for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. Head past the break for more info and some screenshots.

It looks like at least two of the ideas I requested in my wish list during our Dead Days of Summer earlier this month is making its way into the game, and that’s the addition of forts, which you’ll be able to reinforce and barricade. Riptide will also feature a new weather system that can flash flood areas, adding another thing to be paranoid of while you’re wandering around looking for supplies.

What do you guys think? Is this the new Dead Island adventure you’ve been itching for or does this sound like more of the same?

Is there any word on if the zombies level up with you? Because that was really wack. That was like the only problem I had with the game haha

Despite all its issues, Dead Island is a pretty fun open world zombie apocalypse game. I can’t say I’m excited cause I know so little about it but it sounds promising. And I believe you can turn off the zombies leveling up with you in the options menu.

WHAT!? haha Are you serious?! I wish I would have known that like twenty hours of gameplay ago. I’ll have to look into that.
