Bleeding Cool reports that while fans were asking Gail Simone about doing a creator-owned series for the Vertigo branch of DC Comics, she left an ambiguously coy, yet hopeful, answer:
“What an interesting question. 😉
It’s almost happened several times, but it didn’t work out, in the past.
That’s all I can say at the moment!”
While it’s not a “yes”, it’s definitely not a “no”, and it looks like we may hear an announcement from Vertigo sometime in the coming months.
Gail Simone is best known for her work on DC properties Batgirl, Secret Six, and Birds of Prey. Recently, she took to Kickstarter to help fund her creator-owned project, “Leaving Megalopolis”, with artist Jim Calafiore. Their project reached it’s goal within only a few days, amassing a total of $117,660. Perhaps Simone is ready to spread her wings and leap further into the world of creator-owned work.
