Here It Is!! The Gory First Footage From The New ‘Evil Dead’!!!

The first look at Fede Alvarez’s hotly anticipated Evil Dead remake is here, and Sam Raimi would be proud (I know Bruce Campbell is). Sony debuted some footage from the film at this past weekend’s panel at the New York Comic-Con and the audience, in a word, went apesh*t. And now footage from the panel has surfaced. This reboot of the 1981 Sam Raimi classic The Evil Dead, looks nuts! While we’ll likely be getting a high-rez look at this footage soon, even this shaky representation lets us know we should be expecting something intense. Thanks to reader JillKills for the heads up.

In the remake starring Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Elizabeth Blackmore, Jessica Lucas and Bruce Campbell, “Five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

Check out the official website and Facebook page. The Book of the Dead is opened on April 12, 2013. Head inside for the footage.

Holy shit!!! After the first photo was realeased, and now seeing this…I’m so stoked! I really can’t think of a single remake since The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) that I’ve been so excited about. Now I’m ready for a good-quality version of the trailer.

  • theodds22

I’m really not a fan of the original, since i haven’t watched it YET. BUT THIS IS JUST SICK AND AMAZING! -_-

  • tisbored

    Looking good!

  • I need a change of pants from excitement and fear!!!

  • NixEclips

Holy crap. That looks bad-ass. Thanks to whoever uploaded this. Been looking.

  • Scream1210

After I saw the picture and heard how amazing the trailer was Ive checking BD everyday waiting to see it! And now that I finally have it did not disappoint! It looks amazing! I can’t wait 2 see this movie! I predict it will be the biggest horror film of 2013 and will be as loved as 2012’s The Cabin In The Woods!

  • andyleff24

Finally happy to see this I was outside the ign theater watching the panel on the big screen with 200 other people and right when they were about to show the footage the jackasses turned of the screen and 200 outraged people were booing very loudly looked awesome though

  • Looks absolutely fantastic. I was blown away by that trailer; looks like the horror film to beat next year!

  • poisonshift

Its a good thing I was already on the toilet taking a shit. Now I can wipe and go.downstairs to watch the original instead of taking.a shower

    • GhettoWerewolf

Why is there no “like” button on BD?

  • Nothing333

Looks decent. I’m not blown away but it definitely looks better than I expected from originally hearing about the remake. My expectations have been raised.

  • doomas10

it seems it is not going to have the black humour of the first one. Will definitely check it out when it is going to get released

  • FreddyKrueger13

I have yet to see the originals, ut I’m psyched for this one!

  • Snoogans

This not only looks like a complete retread of the original, but it also resembles some of the more recent shitty remakes. First impression I get is that they are trying too hard to one-up Raimi’s Evil Dead by making it as gory and gross as possible. I just hope they don’t forget to make it entertaining or, I shudder to think, actually scary.

    • TheMadTitan

Exactly what Snoogans said. Effective trailer music and a roaring hipster crowd isn’t about to convince me.

    • MichaelScotts-apprentice

” First impression I get is that they are trying too hard to one-up Raimi’s Evil Dead by making it as gory and gross as possible.”

By “they”,are you referring to Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell, considering that they are the ones producing this film? Are “they” trying to one up their own original movie? Who knows. What is known is that Raimi and Campbell must have seen something worthwhile in remaking the first film. Them two alone are the whole reason why this film is being made in the first place. i say give it chance.

I personally think that it looks promising! I’m excited to see the series reinvigorated! I hope this tone stays throughout any sequels that may come. I wasn’t a fan of the comedic/slapstick tone that was taken for Dead by Dawn and Army of Darkness.

      • divisionbell

Yes they did. The original was an awful, awful film. The second was much better. Which was a remake already.

    • jacup

Gosh, I’m so tired of people whining about modern horror being “gory and gross” and bloody.

You do realize that since the conception of classic horror, the intent was always to be gory and bloody? Such attempts were stifled by the lack of technology, resources, and technique.

Every horror director 20 years ago that wasn’t investing in psychological horror, wanted this level of blood and gore. They just couldn’t attain it because the art of blood and gore had yet to be perfected.

      • GhettoWerewolf

I believe people who think like this would be mad no matter what is done. If it’s remade, then the people behind it “ruined” the experience of the original for them, if there was a sequel, then they were just cashing in on a name that people know. It doesn’t matter to me. I love the original for what it was, but, in all honesty, it’s a poorly-made film with bad acting and terrible special FX. If your not a fan of horror movies, then, compared to films today, the original is laughable. This actually looks like something worthwhile.

        • divisionbell

          Hmmm well said

    • Shaitan

I think they are pushing the gore factor, to get everyone to forget the fact that they don`t have a good replacement for Bruce Campbell himself. Bruce is what MADE Evil Dead.
Nice slight of hand there Sam. But if they don`t have decent Ash interaction, well, that is gonna blow imho.

  • Aaron Emery

    Looks pretty damn good.

  • joesey

That is so fucked up! I can’t wait to see this remake after all

  • al343806

That was beyond disturbing. And I loved it!

  • evenscarier

    Okay, now I’m excited!

  • Alex † Von’Fratt

This shit is going to be fucking wicked. I’m not much of a fan of remake horror films but for some reason, my mind tells me this is going to be a great horror film. Universal Studios should think about using this for Halloween Horror Nights next year, even though they’ve already used The Walking Dead.

  • djblack1313

    HOLY FUCK!!! this looks amazing!!

  • tgraci

I find it hard to believe that this film will come anywhere close to the original but I’m not gonna lie the teaser does look pretty brutal…I will def check this out when it is released

  • Darkness69

This looks great!!! It seems they’ve definitely moved away from the comedy, but I think that, with Bruce himself on board, the movie can’t be bad at all!

  • EvanDickson

    • Lonmonster

      I second that.

      • djblack1313

i stand corrected! this looks fucking AWESOME!

  • horrorking95

That was brilliant! It looks incredibly moody and gothic, like something Tim Burton would do. The action looks every bit as insane and bloody as the original too! This has actually exceeded expectations. I can see this being a hardcore horror hit!

  • lucie-with-a-gun

    ugh cannot dload daily motion.
is this anywhere else to see?

  • MachetAY

Well at least its going to be gory. If I would have heard “we’re going to get you” I would be sold on the spot.

  • djblack1313

this is STILL going for a PG-13 rating……….(joking! LOL).

  • DeathAwaits

dailymotion is not working for me either. know anywhere else i can watch this?

  • bambi_lives8980

    Dude… fucking… sick…

  • BelaManiac

Holy Shit! I’m so excited for this. I love the original and in fact, just watched it last weekend but this looks great!

  • Marty McFly

I’m still not convinced if it will be good, I’ll wait for the trailer.

  • TimDuncan86

Am I the only one who is seeing this as “deleted”?

  • djblack1313

Tim it IS now deleted. go to (the EVIL DEAD page) and you can find links & downloads for it.

  • tHeShApE89

I’ll swallow your soul! I’ll swallow your soul! Swallow this….

  • Psycrow

    Looks good.

  • Taboo

I’ve never seen the first one, but I must say I was very impressed with the trailer of the new one. Now I’ll be checking out the original tonight 🙂

nice. really pumped for this now, wish they would just release it this year

  • sqitso

    The trailer is still here

Just providing a link in case this one is still down.

It looks good. I guess Ash had a sex change, but being as it was Evil Dead I am willing to bet it has something to do with Evil as to why Ash is a chick now.

  • flesheater24

This looked pretty sick and faithful, they got the raping tree, the cellar, the chainsaw, the POV camera, even the car. The gore seemed to be insane too. This and carrie could be awesome I am hoping.

  • KeepDoubting

Holy shit. This looks insane! I had chills the whole time!

  • Joe-Banger

Looked really fucking scary! Maybe better than original! Dont get too excited though everyone, if this is a success then there will be a sequel and that might be a success as well.

  • xAshleyMariex

FUCK!!! I got so excited to see this, i clicked on the article and it says content deleted >:I

  • EvilHead1981

Saw the vid from an IMDb link. Generally like what I saw. The only gripes I have regarding it:

    1. The choice of dark muted colors. It’s like if someone started to mess with the color, brightness and contrast options of a television. When I see directors go this route(which was big in trend during the 00s), I get annoyed. It’s overstayed it’s welcome by the mid-00s, now it’s just beating it to death. We have HD, we have full color, we can utilize crystal clarity so it looks as real as real life. I don’t know, it’s just me. I love that many other movies are moving past that trend, and don’t like that the Evil Dead remake is holding on to it.

    2. The scene where the girl(Mia?) screams and then says something like, “You’re all going to die!” is pretty hokey. I swear I saw that same type of scene a million times before with various “medium” characters getting possessed, bellowing out their “death screams” and then claiming “You’re all gonna die!!” in the same fashion. Did they really have to include such a scene in this movie?

Okay, enough with those gripes. I do love how the gore is very 80s-esque. The blood looks kinda splatteriffic, and the gore is generally meaty and appitizing. Love the boil infested arm of the girl, who then procedes to chop it off. Totally practical effects, and I’d also go on to say, it’s totally banking on 80s splatter horror, where blood splats and gloops all over the place and limbs go flying everywhere. IMO, it doesn’t look grounded and realistic(the blood’s kinda bright), but given that I’m a fan of 80s horror gore, I can let it slide.

  • unisonruss

Video deleted!!! I need to see this!

  • Milk

This looks great. So fucking gory. Yes. Yes. YES!

  • ThunderDragoon

    Looks so fucking awesome.

  • evil_monkey
  • mav07

hopefully all of that gore makes it in the theatrical version. Friggin’ MPAA…

  • STRIK9

Shit looks awesome. If I’m forced to have a remake, this looks exactly like what I would want. With Bruce and Sam’s involvement,I’m sure this film will deliver.

  • michael dippolito

Am I the only one who thinks this actually looks awful? Yeah sure there is a lot of gore in the trailer and it looks as if it follows the basic premise of the Evil Dead story. But still, the demons look like crap, it doesn’t look like they have that clownish attitude teamed with those moments of pure evil. I want them to laugh uncontrollably while they’re saying “JOIN US, JOIN US!”. Guess I can’t really say it DOESNT happen, but the makeup on the possessed look good, but it’s not Evil Dead. I just don’t understand why they have to remake this movie. Leave it the hell alone. I’m actually so surprised that Bruce and Sam wanted this to happen. It was their baby. Couple kids went to a cabin with nothing but the bare minimum, in turn creating an instant classic.

I will see this movie, but I can’t say I’m excited for it.

  • Jer

The movie itself looks alright I guess, but I think I’m gonna have a problem with some of the actors. That one chick’s delivery of the line “You’re all going to die tonight” sounded more appropriate for a vagisil commercial.

  • redrebel

I don’t care if classic horrors are remade as long as they are good

  • deandean1990

Content Deleted? Thanks a lot BD. Good thing I saw the trailer a month ago.

  • coldblood

I love the original Evil Dead – I didn’t like Part 2 or Army of Darkness as much because they were too campy. This remake actually looks really freakin good.

  • XMarkX

Not impressed. I don’t think it has the right look or feel at all. Looks more Saw than Evil Dead to me. I realize they’re going to want to do something different/modernize it, but it’s just not doing it for me. I do love the Evil Dead movies, so I’ll definitely see it and give it a fair chance. I’m actually hoping I end up eating these words and the movie is awesome, rather than it end up being another remake that’s forgotten in a year.
