The American Film Market kicks off tomorrow and Filmax International already leaked out a new genre project they have up their sleeves.
From the production house responsible for the [REC] franchise comes Summer Camp, a new horror project in development for shoot in 2013.
While there are no details just yet, Sleep Tight screenwriter Alberto Marini will be making his directorial debut on what I hope is a slasher. He co-wrote the screenplay.
Plot is under wraps but Marini commented to Variety: “There’s a game common to the majority of kids around the world, both in and out of summer camps: “Tag, you are it”…. The fun of the game is that the roles are constantly changing: The pursuer becomes the pursued, the cat becomes the mouse.”
He added: “We wanted to capture this idea in a horror-filled, adrenaline-pumped movie…. A film in which you’re never sure who your friends or who your enemies are, a game you’d never wish to be part of and where, sometimes, in order to escape the only option is to attack.”
Jaume Balaguero (Sleep Tight, [REC], [REC]2) executive produces.
Balaguero goes into production on REC: Apocalypse early next year.
