The Trailer For ‘Silent Night’ Hits Just In Time For Xmas!!!

Silent Night

On November 30th, Anchor Bay Films presents Silent Night on screens in ten major U.S. metropolitan areas. That following tuesday, December 4th, the Blu-ray/DVD combo and DVD will be available to unwrap nationwide. Bonus features include “SILENT NIGHT: Behind The Scenes” featurette and Deleted Scenes.

It’s kind of a rare thing to be getting our first look at a film’s trailer less than a month before its release, but I kind of like the idea in theory. It gives people a chance to get jazzed without getting burned out I suppose.

The film, directed by Steven C. Miller (Automaton Transfusion, Under the Bed, The Aggression Scale), is a loose remake of the horror classic Silent Night, Deadly Night. The cast includes Malcolm McDowell (Rob Zombie’s Halloween, Easy A), Jaime King (Sin City, My Bloody Valentine 3D), Donal Logue (Shark Night 3D, Blade), Lisa Marie (Sleepy Hollow), Brendan Fehr (Final Destination, X-Men First Class), and Ellen Wong (Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World).

McDowell and King star as a small-town sheriff and deputy on the hunt for a murderous Santa Claus terrorizing their community on Christmas Eve. But with the streets full of Santas for the annual Christmas parade, the killer is hiding in plain sight. He’s made his list, checked it twice, and the naughty are going to pay with their lives.

Head inside to check it out!!

Been so excited for this cause I loooooove holiday horror. Trailer looks ok. Lets hope the movie is a gooder.

  • djblack1313

i agree. the trailer (audio is not in sync) looks just ok & also in many shots looks VERY cheap. that being said i love Jaime King & i’m looking forward to this movie! i love Xmas horror and snowy settings in horror movies!

    • jmacgrath

I’m getting a Black X-Mas vide all over again.. Trailer looks kinda awful honestly. It started off good then got bad.

    • K-Dogg

DJ, I too am a sucker for winter/snowy settings, probably because I live in a cold climate during winter, so I can relate…That is what really helped those Cold Prey movies, and of course, an all time fave flick The Thing, it’s like a character in the movie.

  • divisionbell

I can’t say I’m all that impressed. I think I’ll stick with the wonderfully cheesy original.

  • CHROMExSKULL

i thought the trailer looked pretty good actually. i love holiday horror, any horror movie that is xmas or halloween themed im in. i will buy the dvd day 1, cant wait!

  • GhostsOfRoute23

What were you guys expecting? Its mostly a DTV flick for crying out loud. That being said it looks like a ton of FUN! Lord knows its been a while since we had a good ole fashioned slasher fest. Will pick this up first day of realease.

  • Aaron Emery

I can’t say I’m all too impressed. I thought it was just my iPad screwing with the audio but I guess not. I’m still excited for this, holiday themed horror is something I can never get enough of (I’m not too proud to admit I kinda love the Black Christmas remake) but this does look pretty cheap. Oh well, it’s just a trailer.

  • GhostsOfRoute23

The slasher genre seems to have dried up after its brief resurgence in 09. Lets try and support this.

  • laymness

    NAUGHTY!!!!!!!

  • Melissa

I’ll watch it because Santa is a killing people but the trailer did make it look really bad. The original’s beginning was brutal fun and had some of the best kills in horror with the sled decapitation and antler impalement! Pretty wicked stuff.

  • Zombie-Killa

    I like it.

I’m not expecting something great, because I’ve never been too crazy about the original. I enjoy the 1984 original, but it’s not a flawless film, there’s room for improvement.

Anyway, I’m a big fan of Malcolm McDowell, and Santa’s using a flamethrower this time around!

    • laymness

I’m pretty sure the original’s flaws are the only thing gong for it.

      • Zombie-Killa

lol. Yeah, I get where coming from. I just think the original receives wayyyyyy too much praise as a “cult classic” some times.

        • laymness

It’s unintentionally hilarious, which is probably where it gets that acclaim.

  • Canucklehead

It’s another Festivus miracle! Oh and Malcom McDowell, fire your agent.

  • Remember-Slithis

This looks better than the original!Which is fun but flawed slasher. The Sled be-heading was one of my favorite kills in the original. This should be dumb but entertaining.

  • Ravinus

Hilarious how the producers try to sell the flick based on Malcom McDowell being in it. How far he has fallen since Clockwork.

  • WalkingDeadGuy

Meh, a little disappointing. I didn’t get that holiday christmas vibe by watching the trailer, it really does look like they shot it in the middle of summer; lame. Also, instead of a good old fashion holiday slasher it looks like they decided to go the “Saw” route, only not as good. Oh well.

P.S. Does anyone buy Jaime King as a cop?

    • Aaron Emery

No, I don’t buy her as a cop at all. But maybe it’ll work, I do like her as an actress quite a bit. And I got the whole ‘Saw’ vibe from it too, I prefer an old fashioned stock and slash over elaborate killings.

      • WalkingDeadGuy

I agree. I’ll give it watch on DVD, hope it’s better than the trailer makes it out to be.

        • Canucklehead

Oh it will be much worse

  • purplek

Heck yeah! haha This looks so awesome man.

  • purplek

And could someone specify which 10 cities it will play in? I can only find places that say it will play in ten cities and won’t list which.

  • anthonyd1

I think it looks cheesy and fun. Hopefully I will be able to check it out in theaters. If not I will definitely be purchasing it on the 4th

  • Catastrophe

It looks cheesy and dumb. I thought the original was awful. This one makes the original look like an Oscar winner.
