[Random Cool] Quentin Tarantino Talks About The ‘Prometheus’ “Space Cobra”

Prometheus_Banner_1_2_12

While out promoting his awesome (but not quite as awesome as Inglourious Basterds) Django Unchained, Quentin Tarantino stopped by the Craig Ferguson show. One thing lead to another and they got on the topic of Prometheus.

Now, I liked Prometheus (so did Tarantino as it turns out), but you have to admit there are a ton of character inconsistencies in the film. Here, Tarantino speaks out against one of the most egregious and oft-cited moments. He doesn’t exactly say anything new, but he adds a certain Tarantino flair to the whole thing that kind of makes it worthwhile.

Head inside to check it out. Prometheus talk begins at around 4:45.

    Ha ha, classic Tarantino!

You know it’s funny, because I’ve seen this in other places. But love it or hate it, there’s always one common complaint about Prometheus, and it’s that damn scene with the white snake! lol.

LOL!! i love this. Tarantino is spot on. he’s saying what millions of us have been saying, YOU DON’T RUN UP TO A FUCKING COBRA, WHETHER IT’S A REGULAR EARTH INDIGENOUS ONE OR A COBRA INDIGENOUS TO ANOTHER PLANET!!! lol. i still can’t believe they left that in the movie. LOL.

I’ve seen it twice now, once in the theatre and then again on Blue Ray. Flaws? Sure it had some issues, but it was also an epic film, visually stunning and a great performance by Fassbender. I have also read that at least one of the deleted scenes would have helped put the space cobra scene in a little more context. Difficult to find any film where everyone agrees with everything aboot it.

Canucklehead, the deleted scene in question just has Fifield & Milburn walking in the dark cavern and they come across a shedded “vagina snake” skin. Milburn is very intrigued/excited-ish by this and picks it up to examine it. that’s the entire scene. there’s also a scene where the entire group in the cave find a worm (early small version of the vagina snake) and Milburn with the group looking on excitedly collects it and puts it in a container. that’s the entire scene.

these scenes DO somewhat show that Milburn is excited to see these aliens/creatures but even if they were in the movie it makes no sense that IMMEDIATELY after being scared shitless of seeing dead Engineer bodies, so much so that he wants to go back to the ship, he’d just run up to a creature that IS CLEARLY SAYING “GET THE FUCK BACK”! lol.

Tarantino ftw! “Hey little fella” – space cobra! My favourite quote

Um, I’m pretty sure your supposed to be yelling “you IDIOT!” and feeling the anticipation of what’s about to happen to him (which could in no way be something good) in the cobra scene. It’s not exactly plausible, but come on, you’ve seen something like it in almost every horror franchise.
